Enjoy a country farm holiday between the two seas!

The “Masseria Sant'Angelo” lies in an ancient olive grove at Corigliano d'Otranto, a lively village in the heart of the “Grecia Salentina”, a historically very interesting part of the province of Lecce in Puglia.

At Masseria Sant'Angelo you can expect to experience a holiday on an active organic farm in comfortable and cozy apartments and rooms with private verandas for 2 – 4 persons. One room is ideal for handicapped persons, too.

Vegetables, olive oil, “ricotta” (soft cheese), cheese, marmalade, wine, liqueurs, tomato sauce, olives – all from organic farming are available for you to enjoy.

Taste the traditional and healthy “cucina salentina” combined with some of our own recipes. Enjoy your dinner listening to our live ethnic music “Pizzica” and you will will feel like you want to move!

Horses, donkeys, goats, hens, cats, dogs and a duck will make sure you'll enjoy a real farm holiday.

All lodgings are in recently restored stables built with the local natural stone. The furniture is in farmhouse style and all apartments and rooms have a veranda with garden furniture and loungers.

Towels will be exchanged all 3 days, bed linen weekly. The costs for heating and for the final cleaning are included. Children up to 3 years are our guests. Two children under 3 years are considered one person.

About Lecce:

Lecce is the city for which the province of Lecce is named after. The city is only 25 km from our location and makes an excellent day trip.

Lecce is only about 49 meters above sea level on the Salentino peninsula and is approximately 10 km from the Adriatic coast.

This historical town is typically Baroque, with picturesque twisting lanes and was originally situated within 16th century walls. These walls have been replaced by wide tree lined streets and avenues.

Lecce was known as Licea during Roman times and the town was an important Roman municipium. Before this though, the town was a Messapico settlement.

When the Western Empire ended, Goths and then the Byzantines dominated the town. But then around the middle of the 11th century, the whole of Puglia was conquered by the Normans. Later the fiefdom of various rulers, it shared the vicissitudes of the Kingdom of Sicily (later known as the Kingdom of Naples and the Two Sicilies) until the unification of Italy in 1860.

Monuments in Lecce include:

  • Roman theatre (2nd century AD)
  • Roman amphitheatre (2nd century AD)
  • Niccolò e Cataldo (originally 12th century, with Baroque façade), and adjacent 16th century cloisters
  • The Duomo (originally 12th century, rebuilt in Baroque style) at the base of the towering campanile (17th century), with the nearby seminary (17th - 18th century)
  • The church of S. Croce (16th - 17th century), one of the most important examples of Lecce Baroque.
  • Two kilometers away lie the excavations at Rudiae (a Messapica and Roman town).

This region is rich in history, culture and natural beauty.

  • Medieval walks
  • Visit De Monti Castle of Corigliano (15th century)
  • Explore the ancient village of "Borgo Antico" di Corigliano

The restaurants located in the "Borgo Antico" (closed for traffic in summer) invite you to taste their traditional "cucina salentina" and their wines, surrounded by ancient walls.

Bicycle Touring:

Discover Salento by bike. This region is ideal for being explored by bike. We organize guided excursions to the most beautiful parts of it.
