The Inn is located in the quaint historic town of Elkton, Virginia in
the heart of the Shenandoah Valley. Elkton is nestled between the Blue
Ridge mountains to the east and majestic Massanutten Peak to the west.
As you stroll the grounds, you will appreciate the time and effort,
as well as the professional architectural design and planning that went
into creating the different garden themes and peaceful environment.
As you know, there are always a lot of things "to do", so
in lieu of "doing", the five outdoor "rooms" have
been created for the human "being"... to "be" as in
a respite, a retreat, a place of renewal. So bring yourself, your
favorite book, or whatever... and enjoy!
Activities:
You can also bring your walking shoes and bike! This area is a nice
place to do both walking and biking, and the park is also a short
distance from the Inn, also a nice place to enjoy a picnic.

Enjoy the romantic old world charm. White antiqued bedroom suite
with 4 poster bed. 1 reading chair. Generous 13' x 17' room with queen
bed and hall bath with shower (shared with The Bee Hive when
occupied).
Enjoy the soothing sound of the outdoor waterfall.
The Bird's Nest:
A sophisticated decor with a 19th century Victorian bedroom suite.
2 reading chairs. Comfortable 13' x 13' suite with queen bed and
private bath with tub and shower.
Overlooks the Wedding Garden.
The Grounds:
Lady Rockingham, The Garden Gate Inn, is sited on a lovely, level,
fenced acre with views of the Blue Ridge and Massanutten mountain
ranges. As you stroll the grounds enjoy the tranquility and let your
mind wonder.
As you know, there are always a lot of things to do, so in lieu of
doing, let Lady Rockingham be your retreat, your place of renewal. So
bring yourself, your favorite book, or whatever .. and enjoy!
There are also two water garden features; the Waterfall Garden can be
enjoyed from the front porch, as well as the surrounding patio area.
The Patio Garden includes a patio area and a lovely lawn and garden
area.

the foot of the Blue Ridge with the Shenandoah River less than two miles
from the Inn. It is a nice level place to do both walking and biking,
and the Park is also a short distance from the Inn, also a nice place to
enjoy a picnic.

Directions:
Located in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley at the foot of the Blue
Ridge Mountains (to the east) and the Massanutten Mountain Range to the
west, finding her is half the fun as there are several interesting
routes to follow. Relax and enjoy your meandering through the lovely
Virginia countryside dotted with small towns, mountain terrains,
agriculture and pasture lands, vineyards and wineries, rivers, and lots
of history.
As you plan your trip, all roads will lead to US Route 340 in Elkton.
Once there, you will turn east on to East Rockingham Street at the
corner of the 7-Eleven convenience store and Elkton Pharmacy.
From Interstate 81 at the Harrisonburg/Elkton exit, go east on US
Route 33 (approximately 20 minutes) to north on US Route 340.
From Interstate 64 at Waynesboro, go north on US Route 340
(approximately 30 minutes).
From Interstate 66 to Interstate 81 head west (approximately 80
minutes) and then and then go south on Interstate 81 (approximately 50
minutes) to the Harrisonburg/Elkton exit for US Route 33 east. Head
east on US Route 33 to US Route 340 (approximately 20 minutes) and go
north on US Route 340.
From Interstate 66 to US Route 340 head west (approximately 60
minutes) to US Route 340 at Front Royal. Turn south on US Route 340 to
Elkton (approximately 60 minutes).
From Interstate 66 to US Route 29 head west to on Interstate 66 to
Gainesville (approximately 40 minutes) and then go south on US Route
29 to US Route 33 at Ruckersville (approximately 50 minutes). Turn
west on US Route 33 and follow to US Route 340 in Elkton
(approximately 25 minutes).
Scenic Routes:
Skyline Drive / Blue Ridge Parkway: Very scenic offering a wide range
of recreational opportunities. Note the Inn is only 7 miles west of the
Swift Run Gap exit (Charlottesville/Elkton).
The Winery and Vineyard Routes: The 2001 Virginia Wine Festival and
Tour Guide can be mailed to you upon your request to the Inn.
The Cavern Routes: The scenic grandeur of the Shenandoah Valley can
only be matched below the Valley’s surface by nature’s great
underground splendor. Call the Inn for brochures on the Caverns.
The History Trails: Scattered all throughout the Valley. Stonewall
Jackson’s Headquarters (the Miller-Kite House c. 1827) is only one
block from the Inn.
