A former dairy farm on the north westernmost shore of
beautiful Lake Champlain, the unique bed and breakfast was totally restored in
1997.
The l6" logs from the original construction are
still the mainstay of the house. All 5 rooms have a view of the lake,
the most dramatic being Ransom's Rest (with a fireplace and a balcony
and a view all the way to Camel's Hump - 100 miles south); and the corner
suite, with Anderson Bay windows to the south and west, giving a wrap
around view of the lake.
Each room has its private bath. A full breakfast is
served from 6:30 'til 9:00 AM. For those with a sweet tooth, enjoy the
never-ending supply of complimentary Ben & Jerry's ice cream.
The Thomas Mott Homestead Bed and Breakfast is a
completely restored pre-civil war farmhouse on Lake Champlain's northern
shore, at the mouth of the Missisquoi River. The bed and breakfast inn has a
perfect view of Mt. Mansfield and offers lodging one hour from
Burlington, Shelburne, the Island of Montreal, Jay Peak and the
Adirondack Mountains of Upper New York State.
The bed and breakfast's sitting area overlooks Lake Champlain and
has a large fireplace and comfortable couches. In warmer climes,
you can relax on the bed and breakfast's enclosed porch or any of three outdoor
porches. Also available for guests is a game room with bumper pool,
darts, and a variety of other games. Our accommodations include five
rooms each with a private bath.
We will
provide you with good food, travel information, games, books for
browsing, and peaceful corners to escape. Recreational activities
abound at our bed and breakfast! Bring your fishing pole, golf clubs, boat, or
bicycle, and even your cross-country skis and snowmobiles in the winter!
We are members of VAST and Sno-Springers, Alburg Chapter, who maintain
40 miles of trails adjoining the property, providing excellent
cross-country skiing and hiking. We also offer special quilting
weekends.

Rooms:
Ransom's Rest:
- Used by honeymooners almost every day of the year
- Inside Ransom's Rest are two comfortable swivel
chairs so that guests may gaze either at the private fireplace or
the lake. The queen bed is placed so that the full moon is totally
visible for about 7 or 8 nights each month. The reflection from the
lake is spectacular. Ransom's Rest's balcony overlooks Lake
Champlain's 123 miles to the south and has a view of the flower
gardens, lawns, and three giant lilac bushes directly below.
Across the lake to the east lay the Green Mountains of Vermont. Jay
Peak looms the highest and Mt. Washington in New Hampshire sometimes
shows it snowy peaks. At night, one can see the glow of lights from
St. Albans, Burlington and Plattsburg, NY.

The Corner Suite:
This large downstairs room has south and western lake
views with a cathedral ceiling, a queen bed, a twin day bed and a full
bathtub. There is also a walk-in closet in which to stow your
treasures as you go antiquing through the countryside.
Carrie's Room:
This is a cozy little room at the top of the stairs.
It has a small sitting area, private shower bath, Shaker peg rack and
queen bed. There is a beautiful sunset view of the lake through our
maple trees.
Laura's Room:
See the sunrise from this wonderful upstairs room with
eastern lake views. There are two queen beds under the eaves and
a large full bath. Note the "Tall Ships" quilt which
graces one of the beds and is designed by one of our gifted Vermont
Quilters.
California King Hideaway:
The perfect room for the very tall people--this hard
maple furnished room has a 12 x 12 Amish Quilt covering the bed and
not touching the floor. The room's eastern view is of Lake Champlain.
The California King Hideaway is upstairs and has a private entry.

so much about the Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream? For eleven years, the
supply in the freezer has never run down. Guests just love it, and so
does the owner - it's simply the best! |
