Secluded country setting with beautiful mountain views.
An Austrian chalet in the Green Mountains of Vermont with our own
cross country skiing, snow shoeing, hiking trails through the forest
behind the inn. Quilts, antiques, self-serve pub & game room,
gardens. Located about half way between Stowe (20 minutes) and Sugarbush/Mad
River Glen (discounted lift tickets available for our guests).
Many opportunities for hiking, biking (on and off road), canoeing,
kayaking, fishing (brown, rainbow and brook trout, plus warm water bass,
etc), golf on superior quality courses, glider soaring, horse back
riding, sleigh rides.
Great restaurants, antique stores, Lake Champlain sailing or cruise
boats, artisan studios (clay, glass, paintings, sculpture, furniture,
woodworking)... you will run out of time long before you run out of
things to see and do!
Special packages are available. Our most popular is the Waterfalls,
Lakes and Covered Bridges. Includes breakfasts, dinners, tour of area
covered bridges, waterfalls, cruise boat ride or canoe rental.
We've Been Welcoming Guests Since 1972!
Step into the Waterbury/Stowe countryside and enjoy personal
attention in our mountainside Austrian chalet. Treasure a wonderful
night's sleep in a comfortable bed and wake to savor the smell of
freshly baked breads and muffins. Wander along the trails through our
own maple and pine forest. Luxuriate before a toasty, crackling fire.
Life here in the mountains of Vermont is slow, simple, and relaxing.
Comfortable Accommodations:
Ten second-floor guest rooms furnished with antiques, comforters and
quilts. Each room opens to a balcony which surrounds the Inn and
provides relaxing views of the Green Mountains.
Two secluded cabins, each with a sitting area, queen-size bed, and
mountain-view deck, are tucked on a mountside along trails up in the
woods. Each cabin is heated with a beautiful wood stove that burns like
a fireplace. The cabins are designed for romantic getaways for two.

Start Your Day With A Full Breakfast:
Breakfast at the Grunberg Haus features homemade breads, fresh fruit
creations and hearty main dishes. You'll enjoy such breakfasts as
pumpkin apple streusel muffins, maple-poached pears, and ricotta stuffed
French toast. Or sample omelettes made of freshly gathered eggs and
stuffed with fiddlehead ferns and Vermont cheddar, served with a fresh
fruit sundae and lemon bread baked from an heirloom recipe.
Plenty To Do.. or Just Relax:
In warm weather, explore our forest trails or relax on the garden
deck. In cold weather, cross country ski or snowshoe out the front door,
or enjoy a game of cards in the pub.
For the comfort and safety of our guests, smoking is allowed only
outdoors, away from the buildings. We've replaced television with
conversation and music. Our collie, "Grace," would love it if
you took her for a walk. Accommodations for your pet are available
nearby.
