Located 2,000 ft. above the valley floor, the Black Bear
Inn offers the most panoramic views and sunsets in Vermont. Sit back and
relax in an unhurried atmosphere or enjoy 6,000 pristine private acres,
which feature tennis courts, a crystal clear swimming pool, and miles of
trails that are perfect for hiking, biking, horse-back riding or nature
tours.
Centrally located just 20 minutes from Burlington or
Montpelier, the Black Bear Inn is perfect for retreats, seminars,
weddings or reunions.
Treat yourself to a Black Bear Getaway - the essence of
Vermont hospitality.
Here's where you will find the charm of a small country
inn with the conveniences of a larger hotel.
Our twenty-four individually decorated rooms include
such amenities as beds adorned with handmade patchwork quilts,
fireplaces, wood stoves, balconies, and a private bath.
A Black Bear Inn Getaway Includes:
- Rooms with full private bath
- Gracious full-course candlelight dinner and/or
hearty country breakfast
- Use of outdoor heated pool, hot tub, tennis courts,
hiking and walking trails
- Cable TV in every room
- Selected rooms with fireplace or traditional Vermont
stoves
- Balconies with scenic views
- 6000 private acres to explore
Activities:
Let us prepare you a bountiful picnic basket to enjoy
alongside nearby Joiner Brook - or wherever your day's explorations may
take you.
There is golf at a nearby course, fishing in mountain
streams, bicycling or hiking in the scenic countryside, and swimming in
our own heated pool. And, down the back roads is a maze of antique
shops, auctions, flea markets and winding drives.
In the winter, the finest in cross-country and downhill
skiing awaits you.
With an average of 275" of snow each year, you can
enjoy Nordic and alpine skiing. The brand new Timberlane ski area
includes a new quad chair, and six intermediate and expert trails all
directly accessible from the Black Bear's own trail. This new system
gives you access to an entire 40-trail network of skiing.
Cross country enthusiasts can also strap on their skis
right outside the Inn, and experience the extensive, well-maintained 100
km (60 miles) network of trails.
Forget the usual inconveniences - lift lines are rare
and snow conditions are excellent here at Vermont's only slope-sided
mountain inn.
Other activities include:
- Shelburne Museum
- Vermont Teddy Bear Company
- Rock of Ages
- Lake Champlain Scenic Shoreline Cruises
- The Vermont Wild Flower Farm
- Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream Factory
- Vermont's Trail Paradise
- Factory Marketplace at Kennedy Brothers
- Dakin Farm
Dining:
With senses sharpened by the fresh mountain air, you
will discover the finest country dining right here at the Inn.
Start the day with a full country breakfast that
includes our homemade muffins and locally-tapped maple syrup.
Later, savor full-course, candlelight dinners which
rival the gourmet creations of New England's most esteemed restaurants.
Our desserts are masterful creations in themselves. Our pastries are, of
course, homemade. And from our cellars, you'll enjoy a wine selection
that is truly splendid.
