This property is also a member of the Granbury Bed and
Breakfast Association.
History:
The property was purchased in 1876 by James Hogan Doyle,
a founding father of Granbury who was also a decorated Civil War Hero.
The early settlers affectionately nicknamed him "Captain".
The original lower floor was built in the early 1880's,
and the upper additions were completed by 1900.
Rooms:
The Captain's House offers two beautifully decorated
Victorian suites and one charming room, each with a private bath.
All the guest rooms are privately located around the
upstairs "Common Room".
All guests are invited to enjoy both the upstairs and
downstairs "Common Areas". In the upstairs "Common
Room", guests may read from a selection of old books and magazines,
enjoy their desserts, watch cable TV, or just visit. Everyone certainly
looks forward to relaxing on the upstairs balcony, and some even enjoy
their morning trays there.
All guests have use of the large upstairs balcony
overlooking the lake.
Mary Kate Doyle Suite:
Step into the elegance of the past...slumber on a
California king-sized, lace-canopied bed... and enjoy the ambiance of
a romantic evening in this suite overlooking the lake.
The Mary Kate Doyle Suite's extra-large bedroom has
original oak floors, antiques from the turn of the century, and a
setting that will charm any guest.
Embellished with roses, laces, and memories from the
past; this exquisite two-room suite, with a private bath, awaits those
wanting the richness and romance from yesteryear.
While this suite has its own entrance onto the outside
large balcony, guests also have a separate room entrance into the
spacious upstairs "Common Room". "Romance at its
best!"
Trenholm Suite:
If complete privacy is what you seek, then you will
enjoy the Trenholm Suite. This spacious two-room suite, with private
bath, is located upstairs... on one side of the house.
Decorated in shades of blues, wines, mauve, and mint
greens, this suite greets the guests with views of both the courthouse
on the Historic Square and the lake.
After a wonderful night's sleep in the queen-sized
brass bed, guests enjoy their breakfast tray either in the sitting
room or outside on the balcony.
The past has been brought back to life with the use of
antique furniture, accessories, dolls, and clothes. "Elegantly
stepping back into a private world!"
Kathleen's Room:
In rich tones of gold, hunter green, and eggplant,
Kathleen's Room is tucked away at the top of the staircase landing and
invites all guests to a wonderful night's rest in the oak-headed,
lace-canopied bed.
With a private bathroom and extended double bed, this
room has an excellent view of the courthouse on the Historic Square.
Enriched with an original piece of furniture from the
Doyle Family and other antiques, guests enjoy the warmth and elegance
of this room with a small sitting area.
Gabriel Angel watches over you at night... and all
ladies are invited to try on the antique jewelry and hats and take
lots of pictures. "A quiet, romantic, angelic room."
Breakfast:
Each morning all guests are pampered to a hot gourmet
continental tray delivered to their rooms. Along with the scrumptious
