The Hunter House was originally built in 1909, but offers all of the
amenities of the 21st century.
The American foursquare home is beautifully set in a historic
neighborhood on approximately ¾ of an acre. One hundred year old oaks,
a relaxing wrap around porch with comfortable chairs and rockers and a
sparkling pool are a few of the things for you to enjoy. The turn of the
century home provides an ideal setting for a bed and breakfast.
Decorative woodwork, high ceilings, hardwood floors, and eclectic
furnishings combine for a relaxing stay.
In addition to relaxing in a historic home, the region offers many
outings such as wineries, antiques, racetracks, or cultural events. The
Hunter House offers a full breakfast daily. Guests will also enjoy an
evening social hour with wine and appetizers.
Located close to Greensboro, Winston-Salem and Highpoint, North
Carolina, the Hunter House is only a short drive from these neighboring
cities, but a world away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
It's perfect for a romantic getaway or a cozy overnight on your way to
the mountains or the beach. The central location makes it an ideal place
from which to explore the Piedmont.

History:
While the town of Madison was founded in 1815, the property at 216
West Hunter St. was not built until around 1909. The original owner of
the house was John Oscar Busick. He and his father, D.W., owned the only
department store in town. John Oscar had the department store until
1934.
During the past 100 years, the house has seen many different owners.
The latest owners, Joey Fleming and Rick Thacker, chose to pursue Rick's
dream of opening a bed and breakfast when Joey had the opportunity to
transfer to the area. While both are natives of Ohio, they both loved
the Carolinas and looked forward to moving someday. 216 West Hunter was
one of the first homes that they looked at while searching for potential
bed and breakfasts in the area. While they looked at many more, they
always came back to this one. Nothing compared to the historic home and
small North Carolina town of Madison.
The owners dedication to the house shines through; from its
individualized room decorations, to the beautiful yards and pool, to the
full breakfast offered daily. Staying at the Hunter House is a truly
memorable and fun experience. The owners pride themselves in taking
excellent care of their guests and making them feel at home from the
first moment they step into the home and are greeted by the owners pet
lab, Dante and cat, Jeager.
