Welcome to the world of Sutherland House Bed and
Breakfast Inn.
We are located just 1.5 miles from Main Street and at
the top of Canandaigua Lake in the beautiful Finger Lakes area of
Upstate New York. We are situated on 5 acres and surrounded by rolling
farmlands. Our setting offers quiet and solitude but is convenient to
wonderful restaurants, festivals, lake activities, skiing, concerts,
antiquing and outlet shopping, and so much more.
As you pull up the driveway, take in the full majesty of
this grand 1885, fully renovated Victorian. A tasteful painted lady, we
boast 5 colors, porches, brick walks, formal gardens and a slate patio
tucked in the shade.
Our home, built in 1885 by Henry C. Sutherland has been
featured on many local tours including the biannual Ontario County
Historical Tour. The 6,000 square feet mansion has been lovingly
restored, updated with taste and renovated to combine the charm of
yesteryear with the conveniences of today.
You will feel that you have made the right choice as you
are welcomed by professional Innkeepers and Owners, Cor and Diane Van
Der Woude and first pet, Tyson the wonder dog, our full bred Boxer.
As you are delightfully introduced to the house, Diane
& Cor will happily share their renovation stories, if you want.
The Victorian Parlor is suited for comfort and relaxing.
Soft music skims across the 10 foot ceilings and you'd think angels were
right behind it. The tall window, bedecked with lace allow light in from
the North, South East and West! Antique cherry shutters at the East end
of the room allow you to view a 200 year old Copper Beach, a gift and
grand in all seasons. Victorian gas fireplace center point adds to the
warmth and charm of the room.
Afternoon refreshments are placed on an antique Dutch
table each afternoon. Homemade goodies, an assortment of teas, coffee,
hot chocolate and hot spiced cider are yours to enjoy. In the warmer
months, iced cold lemonade and iced tea are available. Enjoy.
The Munger Dinning Room seats up to 10 comfortable. The
original cherry mantle, tile and pocket doors tell you that you are
somewhere special. All the wood work at Sutherland House is original and
has never been painted a rare and real treat to share.
