Stirling House Bed & Breakfast is located in the heart of Greenport Village, on the North Fork of Long Island, New York.
Open year-round, the B&B is an 1873 Victorian home blending old world southern style hospitality with new world luxuries. This combination
has made our bed and breakfast a Long Island Wine Country favorite!
Come and explore our beautiful coast, award winning wineries and vineyards, fine restaurants and galleries, all just a few short steps away
from our resort. Whether you bring or rent a bicycle and go cycling through our quaint streets or take to the water on one of our exclusive
lighthouse cruises, Stirling House will pamper you and tend to your every need.
We are the only bed and breakfast in Greenport's historic district with breathtaking views. Once you see Stirling harbor from the wraparound
front porch and rooms, relax in the Jacuzzi, or unwind with a good book in front of one of our fireplaces you'll think of The Stirling House first
for Greenport Village and wine country accommodations!
The Stirling House Bed and Breakfast is a member of the Greenport-Southold Chamber of
Commerce, the Long Island Convention and Visitor's Bureau, the New York State Hospitality and Tourism Association, and the Empire State Bed &
Breakfast Association.
Rooms:
The Greenport Room:
The Greenport Room puts a bit of the North Fork resort feel right into the room. Filled with nautical memorabilia, it is a must for any
lighthouse fan. There's also a tip of the hat to our local Long Island vineyards. The room is furnished with a comfortable queen size bed, a
walk-in cedar closet, air conditioning, and ceiling fan. Plantation shutters give a bright airy feeling to the room.
You will swear you are outside in the garden, as there is a picket fence overgrown with ivy and forsythia flowers on one side of the room. You
can enjoy a good book in your "secret garden", while relaxing on the antique wicker rocking chair. The walls are hung with paintings
and lithographs by local Greenport artists.
The Garden Room:
The Garden Room is a blend of southern style hospitality and North Fork garden views. The room is furnished with antiques, and is set in a
relaxed Victorian style. The room has four large windows and boasts three lush garden views, hence the room's name.
The Garden Room has a sense of old fashioned elegance. A queen size brass bed and fine pieces of American antique furniture add to the
Victorian setting, and there is even a set piece from the film "The Age of Innocence," starring Daniel Day Lewis and Michele Pfeiffer.
The room also features an old style ceiling fan (as well as air conditioning,) and many original paintings.
The French Room:
The French Room is in the style of a turn-of-the-century Parisian apartment. There is a beautiful full size antique sleigh bed and many ornate
French collectibles. Prints by artists such as Toulouse Lautrec await you in the most romantic of the rooms.
Fresh flowers are a staple here, and there are many eclectic French collectibles to enjoy during your sejour a la Parisienne in this room. The
corner of the room features a very comfortable antique cane chair complete with an overstuffed pillow from Versailles... the pillow is nice, but
it's not worth "losing your head over!" Of course there are the modern comforts such as ceiling fan and air conditioning.
Parlour Room:
This room is in the old style Victorian tradition. Formal in nature, the parlour was a greeting room for guests before making their way to
more informal surroundings, such as the dining area. This room has a beautiful hand painted floral mural (painted almost a century ago,) and many
fine antiques, including a restored Louis XIV armchair.
The parlour has a magnificent inlaid "marble" fireplace hearth, two Victorian sofas, an antique music cabinet, and a Dutch Tea
Cabinet for you to enjoy during your stay at the Stirling House Bed & Breakfast.
Breakfast Room:
Eclectic and whimsical are just two words that could aptly describe the Breakfast Room. It is filled with collectibles from days gone by. A
Coney Island popcorn machine is guarded by a sentry of antique toys. An old Woolworth's toy riding horse reminds visitors to ride the
turn-of-the-century carrousel on Front Street. A wicker seating area is available on this side of the room for breakfast dining.
A large southwestern table dominates this side of the Breakfast Room, providing ample seating for our guests. The buffet style continental
breakfast is served on the table and the dry sink to the left. Our visitors enjoy animation artwork and, through four oversized windows, garden
views. Weather permitting, have your breakfast in the English garden beside the fish pond.
The Garden:
A frog fountain resides at the side of the fishpond in this raised English garden. Breakfast can be enjoyed at the pondside table under a huge
market umbrella. The infamous "Bird Girl of Savannah" greets visitors daily. A comfortable chaise lounge also awaits.
The garden will catch your eye from the street. A neat picket fence frames the surroundings. Unusual plants, such as flowering quince and
goat's beard, are here for your enjoyment.
The manicured lawn is lush and green. The garden has many areas in which to hide with a good book or a stack of postcards to write!
About Stirling House:
The Stirling House is an 1870's era Victorian home that once served as a boarding house. Recently known to many in Greenport as "the Cook
House," so named for the family that occupied the home for most of the 1900's, the house is now your "home away from home" as you
relax and enjoy Greenport and our beautiful environs.
A deluxe continental breakfast is served to our guests in the breakfast room each morning. Afternoon tea and lemonade are served and await your
return from shopping, wine tasting, and enjoying our coast and town!
The Stirling House offers three distinctive bedrooms to our guests. One bedroom with private bath is available, while the other two bedrooms
share the use of an additional bath. Our beautiful Victorian parlor is just the place to surround yourself with antiques and enjoy a great book!
Television and a VCR are available in the breakfast room.
Our location offers deluxe private baths, relaxing whirlpool baths, romantic fireplaces, and the most beautiful water view of all of the
waterfront Greenport bed and breakfasts. Our home dates from 1893 but has every modern convenience. No stuffy atmosphere here... we want you to
make yourself at home!

National Golf Club. At the end, go right onto Sound Avenue and continue eastbound. You will travel approximately 18 miles to the flashing light
at the intersection with route 25 Main Street. Turn right and travel into Greenport. Turn left at the Greek Orthodox Church onto Sterling Street.
