Welcome to the Ostrander's where four seasons of country
living await you!
Whether you arrive for business or pleasure, for one
night or a month, we offer the perfect combination of convenience and
quiet comfort.
We offer 2 guest rooms and 2 private cottages (The Pond
House and The Shepherd's House), all with private baths.
We are conveniently located in the heart of St. Lawrence
County in northern New York State within 5 minutes of Canton and St.
Lawrence University and SUNY Canton, 12 minutes from Potsdam and
Clarkson University and SUNY Potsdam, and 30 minutes to Canada.
Our Cape Cod style home, built in 1996 is surrounded by
board and stone fences and neighboring farm pastures. Once the site of
St. Lawrence University riding stables, our 22 acre estate offers the
ultimate in accommodations.
There is ample paved off street parking. As you drive up
the driveway lined with flowering crabapple, pine and birch trees toward
our Cape Cod home nestled among the trees overlooking an acre pond, you
may be reminded of South Fork from the TV series, Dallas.
We are 3rd generation North Country natives. Rita is
retired from a 35 year banking career and Al from dairy farming.
We offer an ideal location for day trips to Ottawa and
Montreal, Canada, Thousand Islands, St. Lawrence Seaway, Lake Placid and
the Adirondacks.
We are charter members of St. Lawrence County Bed and
Breakfast Association and we graciously welcome you to our home.

Lambs are born in the fall and late winter. Take a
short walk to the barn to see the lambs, help with chores, or sit on
the big tractor.
Farm:
Relax in Adirondack chairs by the pond and watch
spectacular sunsets.
Pick an apple or blueberries as you meander around the
pond and along the stone hedge fence or stroll on the walking path
around a 10 acre meadow and sheep pasture.
Whitetail deer, Canadian geese, mallard ducks and a
variety of birds will greet you. Visit the mysterious arch in the hill
and tell us what you think it is.
Guests are invited to the barn to view the animals and
farm equipment and help with chores. Children of all ages enjoy a
photo session sitting in the big tractors.
Border Collies:
Kate will greet you and show you how to herd the sheep. They are registered Border Collies. Pups are for sale.
Foliage:
Fall foliage is second to none. The view from any window
is spectacular. Guests can pick blueberries in the summer and apples in
the fall as they stroll around the walking path which surrounds the
property.
