The Inn on La Loma Plaza is a historic Taos landmark
that provides an intimate and luxurious setting two blocks from the
downtown Taos Plaza.
The completely walled hacienda sits on a small hill with
expansive grounds, towering trees and commanding mountain views. The
Inn, an outstanding example of Spanish pueblo architecture (Santa Fe
style) built by Spanish settlers in 1800 has been beautifully restored
and appointed.
Most of the first floor was built in 1800, when it
served as the southeast corner of Plazuela de San Antonio, one of the
first fortified plazas recognized by Spain in the New World. As a
result, the inn is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
You can see the town of Taos, as well as the peaks of
the Sangre de Cristo range of the Rocky Mountains from inside the walls
of this Spanish hacienda (estate).
The spacious guest areas feature thick adobe walls, high
ceilings, hardwood and tiled floors, hand-carved corbels, vigas and
latillas. There are fountains, antiques, local art, and lots of green
plants and quiet corners.
A large outdoor hot tub and children's playground is
located on the property. Also provided are complimentary health club,
tennis court, and pool privileges at a nearby facility as well as a full
gourmet breakfast, afternoon snacks, beverages, evening coffee, and
cookies.
