The Rosewood Country Inn Bed and Breakfast is nestled on
12 hilltop acres in the charming town of Bradford in the Mt. Sunapee Lake

Its early American tradition is recalled in its bordering
stone walls, sunlit porches and inviting common rooms. Country elegance
with an atmosphere of warmth and relaxation . . .
The staircase leads from a welcoming center hall to the
tastefully decorated guest rooms on the upper floors.
All have private baths and enjoy their own distinctive
intimacy. Guests may drift off to sleep in a canopy or four poster bed

Some suites feature king-size beds, fireplaces, and

Changing Seasons:
Summer:
New London Playhouse, concerts, golfing, antiquing, boat

our gardens, croquet, or lemonade under our apple tree by the brook.
Autumn:
Covered bridges over rock-filled streams. Pristine
church steeples against blue skies. Experience every color nature has to
offer. Hike Mt. Kearsarge for a truly spectacular view! Return to the
inn for hot mulled cider and to warm by the fire. Snuggle up in an
overstuffed chair with a good book in front of a crackling fireplace.
Winter:
The Tavern Room windows glow with candlelight and the
air is pungent with wood smoke. It is the kind of place that beckons you
to hurry inside on a snowy night. The fireplaces blaze brightly and the
candles cast flickering shadows.
Mt. Sunapee and Pat’s Peak are all within minutes of
the inn, snow shoe or cross country from the front door on our woodland
trails. For the not-so-adventurous there’s ice skating or a romantic
sleigh ride nearby.
History:
"Mr. & Mrs. Edward Messer opened their home in
1896 with 6 guests. Rates were $5.00-7.00 a week and references were
required. As business increased buildings were enlarged and cottages were
added. At one time as many as eighty-five guests could be accommodated.
Entertainment was provided by a bowling alley, a dance hall, golf course,
and a casino. In addition to the house, tents were provided on raised
floorings set among shade trees."
The Messer Family continued to operate the inn, then known
as Pleasant View Farm, until 1956. In the early 1900’s, Jack London,
Gloria Swanson, Mary Pickford, Douglas Fairbanks, Mr. & Mrs. Charlie
Chaplan and the Gish Sisters (Lillian & Dorothy) are among the famous
signatures that appeared in the guest registers.
