Serene lodging in the White Mountains, North Conway, New Hampshire ~
Mt. Washington Valley.
A four season historic bed and breakfast inn tucked away on a quiet
wooded lane just off the main route through the Village of North Conway,
New Hampshire.
Red Elephant Inn Bed and Breakfast is nestled in the Mount Washington
Valley in the heart of the White Mountains of New Hampshire.
The bed and breakfast inn is within walking distance of North
Conway's activities, but it is removed enough to provide peaceful
lodging and the relaxation of the New Hampshire mountains. Just as close
to the inn as the village are trail heads into the woods and hills, yet
again just as close are hundreds of outlet and specialty shops as well
as scores of restaurants and pubs. There are mountains and rivers,
ledges and waterfalls, ski areas and outfitters, covered bridges and
antique stores. The area abounds with some of the finest sightseeing,
recreation, shopping and dining in all of New England.
The bed and breakfast inn itself is distinctively appointed with the
art, antiques, and collectibles we've accumulated from our travels over
the years. The house is complemented by a porch, deck, and swimming pool
as well as by extensively landscaped grounds and gardens. Inside there
is the cozy quiet of the library with its westerly view of the Moat
Range, or the convivial entertainment of the den with its big-screen LCD
TV and comfy leather furniture.
The eight guest rooms all are individually decorated, and all have
private baths and air-conditioning. The inn and the guest rooms are
non-smoking.
Rooms:
The guest rooms of the inn are unique, varying one from the other in
layout, amenities, and views. All the rooms have their own baths, and
all the rooms are air-conditioned. The larger rooms have king size beds,
the rest have queen size. Some of the rooms have gas-burning fireplaces
or stoves, some have cable television with VCR/DVD players. Some of the
baths have jetted Jacuzzi style tubs. Each has its own charm and decor.
Just give us a call or email us a question so we may recommend the room
which best accommodates your wants or needs.
South East Asia:
Our most spacious guest room, featuring views of Mount Washington
and the Moat Range. The room offers a king size bed, seating area, gas
burning fireplace, and flat screen TV with cable/DVD/VCR. The bath
offers a two person jetted tub with shower. The bedroom's vaulted
ceilings and the bathroom's skylight lend an airy, bright, and
cheerful feel to your stay.
Country Quilts:
A sunny, moderate size guest room decorated with antiques. It has
views both to the east and to the west of the inn, overlooking the
pool and gardens, as well as the woods and the Moat Mountains. The
room offers a queen size bed and the bath offers a tub with shower.
Cable TV with DVD.
Western Plains:
One of our larger guest rooms, with a rustic look and feel but with
all the modern comforts and amenities. The room has cedar paneled
walls with a beamed ceiling, and it has seasonal views of Mount
Washington. It offers a king size bed with skylight, cozy seating
areas, gas burning stove, and flat screen TV with cable/DVD/VCR. The
bath offers a two person jetted tub with shower.
Desert Camel:
Another of our larger guest rooms, across from the den with
convenient ground floor access. The room offers a king size bed and
gas burning fireplace. The bath offers a jetted tub with shower and a
walk-in closet. Cable TV with DVD/VCR.
Domestic Cat:
Our other ground floor guest room, near the inn's library and
across from the dining room. It is a good size room with a large bay
window providing a southerly exposure. The room offers a queen size
pencil-post bed, gas burning stove, and flat screen TV with
cable/DVD/VCR. The bath offers a jetted tub with shower.
Elephant Walk:
A large room in a very private setting with the sunniest exposures
from its gabled windows on three sides at the south end of the inn.
The room has the original wide plank pine flooring and plaster walls
of the old farmhouse. It has a queen size sleigh bed with cable TV,
and the bath has a shower.
The Hippie Room:
A more moderate size guest room but with a spacious bath, its
windows overlook the back deck, gardens, and pool. The room has a
queen size sleigh bed, and the bath has a tub with shower. A
pass-through door can be opened into the Covent Gardens guest room,
creating a suite of two rooms each with its own full bath, perfect for
traveling couples or a family of four. The room, however, also can be
occupied separately with plenty of privacy.
Neiman Marcus:
Another moderate size guest room with a tub/shower bath, its
windows look to the west over the front grounds and across the river
valley to the Moat Range. A gas burning stove and small seating area
provide a cozy venue to watch the sun set over the valley and behind
the mountains. The room has a queen size sleigh bed. As with Heather
Moor, a pass-through door can be opened into the Heather Moor guest
room, creating a suite of two rooms each with its own full bath,
perfect for traveling couples or a family of four. The room, however,
also can be occupied separately with plenty of privacy.
Common Rooms:
Library:
The Inn's library is great for just relaxing. We have a full
library of books, including an exhaustive selection of local hiking,
biking, and trail maps. Don't spend big bucks at the bookstore before
you get here... just borrow ours while you're here.
Den:
The Den is the one common room in the house that has a television
and VCR/DVD. We have a good selection of classic movies (with a bit of
a historical and Victorian bent) you're free to pop in any time. But
the den is also just a good place to relax and talk.
The Dining Room:
Here's where you'll have breakfast every morning. Unlike the second
rate "continental breakfasts" that some hotels promise you,
we know that time in the mountains requires something considerably
more hearty. If you have special needs, we can accommodate them (and
not with just cereal, either!).
The dining room also has hot coffee, tea, and cookies out all the
time. Hey, we like to snack, too!
The Grounds:
We're open all year, allowing you to take advantage of the best of
any season. Although we're certain you'll be impressed with the quality
of the rooms at the inn, we're even more certain you'll be impressed
with what's outside.
This garden is currently home to a small family of friendly chipmunks
who love walnuts. In other corners of the grounds, we also have abundant
gardens whose produce will certainly be on your plate some morning, and
an in ground pool.
