Built in 1897 by Charles Gillis as a guest home, this lovely country
Victorian Inn is nestled on 3 acres of peaceful countryside in the Lake
Sunapee Region.
Wintertime, snuggle between soft flannel sheets, drifting off to
sleep as the quiet sets in.
Summertime, enjoy the soft breezes lulling you into drowsiness as you
listen to the resident bull frogs serenading you.
Voted as the 2001 Inn of the Year by the readers of Pamela Lanier's
guide "The Complete Guide to Bed & Breakfasts, Inns &
Guesthouses", the Candlelite Inn has all the grace and charm for
that perfect getaway. Each one of our 6 guestrooms has its own charm and
character.
Featured in the Congressional Record for our achievement in the
hospitality industry. Selected in Kitty & Lucian Maynard's cookbook
entitled "Best Recipes from American Country Inns & Bed &
Breakfasts". 2004 Inn with the Most Privacy by Arrington's Bed and Breakfast
Journal.
Breakfast:
Wake up to the aromatic smells coming from the kitchen as we freshly
prepare your 3 course gourmet breakfast - down to the dessert.
Homemade jellies and jams, piping hot muffins and breads, tantalizing
entrees, and mouth watering cobblers, pies and tarts.
Breakfast is served in our lovely Sun Room which overlooks the pond
and babbling brook.
The Experience:
Come and experience the relaxed atmosphere and the quiet elegance of
this all seasons Inn. Sitting on the gazebo porch, sipping lemonade on a
hot, lazy summer day... or walk the back roads of Bradford as the leaves
change.
Ski the slopes of Mt. Sunapee or cross country and snow shoe the
hills as you explore the beautiful scenery here in Town.
Journey back in time as you make new memories of an era gone
by. The Candlelite Inn, elegant...yet warm and friendly.
Rooms:
The Candlelite Inn has five luxurious and individually decorated
rooms and one mini-suite. Each room is complete with a queen-size bed
and private bath.
Throughout the Inn you will see many fine crafts, such as quilts on
the beds and walls, cross-stitch pillows and pictures, and tole
paintings on wall hangings and table top decorations.
Peach Room:
Soft peach-flowered wallpaper with whispers of ecru adorns the
walls. Cross stitch, tole painting, and crafts showcase the many
talents of the innkeepers. A brass bed and an etched, double-mirrored
armoire set the room off exquisitely. A large in-room bath awaits for
those "late night soaks."
Lavender Room:
Wicker, brass, and oak all complement this cheerful, sunny room. An
alcove with a wicker chair is there for your reading enjoyment. A
private hall bath is just two steps from your room. Summertime, a
lavender and white family heirloom crochet bedspread graces this
queen-sized bed, and during the winter, snuggle between soft flannel
sheets as candles twinkle in the windows as you drift off to sleep.
Mini Suite:
Decorated in a colonial setting with access to the gazebo porch,
this spacious first-floor room radiates a warm welcome to the weary
traveler. A cozy sitting area and a comfortable queen bed invite you
to relax after a day of area sight-seeing.
Green Room:
Bay windows overlooking the front grounds provide warmth and light
in the beautiful Green Room. A private hall bath and a queen bed all
bring back memories of your grandmother's house. This room is uniquely
decorated with all the charm and character of an era gone by.
Rose Room:
Overlooking the pond, this room has a country Victorian flair as
you relax and enjoy the quiet of the moment. The in-room bath, fluffy
towels, firm mattresses, and cotton flannel sheets all add to the
incredible attention to detail the innkeepers have achieved for this
room
Blue Room:
This delightful room has a taste of country. A Windsor queen bed,
muslin bunny, wooden craft toys, and baskets all add to the country
charm. Get away from it all by pampering yourself in an antique
claw-footed tub.
