The Atwood House is an 1894 Neoclassical Georgian Revival mansion
located two blocks from Nebraska's capitol.
This unique 7,500 plus square foot home is decorated throughout with
Victorian antiques.
Enjoy breakfast, prepared in our award winning kitchen. This
exquisite fare is served on bone china with sterling silver, Waterford®
crystal and linens in the formal dining room, the sun room or in the
privacy of your suite.
You can drink a complimentary non-alcoholic beverage (or bring your
own champagne/wine) while relaxing in your private sitting area or in
the downstairs main parlor or sun room; sneak downstairs in the middle
of the night for a snack or fresh fruit; or eat popcorn while watching a
romantic movie (we have more than 50 recently released titles) on your
own television (discreetly hidden away when not in use).
During the day you could go to the Sheldon Art Gallery, view the
sunken gardens or stop in the gazebo at Hazel Able Park, tour the
historic Kennard House across the street, tour the University of
Nebraska's natural history museum, or visit Nebraska's Capitol which is
only two blocks away.
Elegant dining is available within four blocks at Billy's or in the
Historic Hay Market district which is only about a mile away.
We are also close to downtown Lincoln, the Lied Center, Pershing
Auditorium, the Historic Haymarket district, the University of Nebraska,
some of Lincoln's most elegant dining, and the Capitol.
Rooms:
Carriage House Suite:
The Carriage House (Branch Suite) is approximately 800 square feet
of privacy located right next to the main house. You enter this suite
in the sitting room which has a vaulted ceiling and features a leather
queen sized hide-a-bed sofa, working fireplace, big screen TV in an
antique walnut wardrobe with VCR and DVD player, cable with most of
the premium channels, and a CD player.
The bedroom has a king size bed with Sealy super plush Crown Jewel
mattress. French doors connect the bedroom to the bath, which has a
large two person Aquatic whirlpool and separate walk-in shower.
Breakfast is served in the main house or a breakfast basket can be
delivered to the Carriage House in the evening. This suite also has a
cheery kitchen with white marble floor.
The Beals Suite:
The Beals Suite is named after the couple who owned the house the
longest. This suite has a three piece walnut bedroom set (Tester bed
has been converted to a king size with Sealy pillow top super plush
mattress) in the bedroom, Victorian furnishings, TV/VCR and a CD
player in the sitting room, while the bath has a two person corner
Jacuzzi with hand held shower.
This suite has been upgraded with antique walnut Tester bedroom
set, new carpeting, larger TV and installation of the whirlpool.
The Frank W Little Suite:
The Frank W. Little Suite is named after the original builder of
the house. It is "L" shaped. As you enter the suite you are
in the sitting area that includes a decorative cheery fireplace
mantel, marble top coffee table, a sofa and winged backed recliner and
TV/VCR with cable.
The bedroom set is a walnut three piece set (high back carved bed
with marble top dresser and wash stand) built in 1840 and given as a
wedding gift to the original owner.
We have converted the bed to a queen. The bath features an original
footed tub, pedestal sink and corner walk-in shower.
The Atwood Suite:
You will "experience the elegance" of a three room suite.
The Atwood suite is Lincoln's most elegant bridal suite. It provides
over 800 square feet of ambiance including a working fireplace and six
window bay in the sitting area.
The bedroom has a king size antique three piece walnut and marble
Victorian bedroom set and ornate walnut wardrobe. The bath is
patterned after a Roman bath. It features a two person corner heart
shaped whirlpool tub surrounded by columns and marble.
Also included is a marble shower, bidet and a very ornate dressing
table, fashioned after the fire place mantel in the main parlor.
This is our largest suite and most frequently booked for romantic
getaways.
