Located on the Featherly Bow and Arrow Ranch at the end
of Lost Creek Lane and tucked away in the foothills of the Mission
Mountains, the LumiVista Bed and Breakfast is quiet and secluded.
The natural surroundings with the ever changing
panoramic view of the Big Sky, the majestic mountains, the fauna and
flora, all make you realize you are in God's country. At the same time
you are in the midst of a multitude of things to see and do, experience
and learn about.
The LumiVista Bed and Breakfast offers many fun and relaxing
things to do right on the premises... and in the near vicinity many
different activities and attractions are available to you each season of
the year so you can be sure to have a great time any time of year you
choose to vacation here.
Accommodations:
Country-Western Suite:
The Country-Western Suite is comprised of two bedrooms
and a large bathroom in the north wing of the house. (One room can be
used as a sitting room and/or a dressing room.) A door closes the
suite off from the rest of the house and gives you complete privacy.
The bedrooms have queen-sized beds with pillow-top mattresses. The
rooms are decorated in early Montana decor. Family portraits and
heirlooms give them a personal touch.
Country Bedroom:
In the "Country" bedroom a portrait of my
mother, taken in the roaring 20's, hangs on the wall. A beautiful
quilt, made by a Crow Indian woman, covers the bed and many antiques
adorn the room. From this bedroom window you can see the ever changing
view of the "Big Sky" above the Mission Valley below.
The Western Bedroom:
In the "Western" bedroom a portrait of my
father, old time cowboy and cattle rancher, hangs on the wall. A
Pendleton, Indian design, wool blanket covers the bed and many western
antiques fill the room.
Tipi:
For an experience you won't forget, sleep in an
authentic tipi one night. Have a Native American come in the evening
to relate their history and traditions, and tell stories from their
oral tradition. And in the morning, because the entrance to the tipi
faces east, you have a beautiful view of the sun rising above the
Mission Mountains. (No charge of course if you have already rented a
room in the house.)
Breakfast:
Featuring Indian fry bread with huckleberry jam!
Normally breakfast is served from between 8 AM to 9 AM.
During that time you may help yourself to the breakfast bar for a
continental breakfast and/or be served a hearty Montana breakfast. If
this time is not convenient for you, just let me know the evening before
and I will serve you breakfast anytime between 5 AM and 11 AM.
Western Hospitality:
Enjoy private lodging with true Western hospitality.
Sleep in luxurious comfort on queen-sized beds with pillow-top
mattresses. In the morning enjoy a hearty Montana breakfast and/or your
choice from a diverse breakfast bar. Enjoy fresh, pure, Montana spring
water to drink. During the day, enjoy Montana at its best with a
multitude of fun, exciting, and interesting things to see and do at all
times of the year so you can be sure to have a great time any time of
year you choose to visit here.
At LumiVista, You Can...
- Fish in the pond which is right below the house.
- Saddle up the horses and go for a horseback ride up
to and around Swartz Lake.
- Jog and bike ride around the property and on the
surrounding country roads.
- Follow the trails the deer have made as you walk
around the property and enjoy the wildflowers, munch on
huckleberries and wild raspberries, scare out wild turkeys, and
watch the deer as they run away from you and then stop, turn around,
and look at you.
- Play horseshoes, croquet, badminton, table tennis
(ping-pong), frisbee, volley ball, basketball, touch football,
soccer.
- Borrow our picnic basket and portable barbeque
grill, find a secluded spot with a picnic table, and have a picnic.
- Borrow our wine and cheese back-pack and have a
romantic evening under the stars.
- In the winter, walk out the back door and go
snow-shoeing, cross-country skiing, snowboarding, and sledding.
- Make yourself at home. Feel free to use the barbecue
grill and patio, kitchen and laundry facilities, or sit out on the
deck or in the living room and simply enjoy the view while listening
to music with surround sound.
- Sit out on the deck or patio and in a beautiful and
peaceful setting, enjoy the cool mountain air as you read a book
from our collection of books on Montana - or play cards, or board
games.
- Watch satellite TV or a movie in your room. (There's
a TV/VCR in the closet.)
- Have an office away from home. Conduct your business
and keep in touch with home. (There's a telephone in your room. You
can use our computer, printer, and fax machine.)
- Bring your horse. Yes, your horse can stay at
LumiVista Bed and Breakfast, too. There's lush, green grass to graze on,
spring water to drink, plenty of room to exercise, and a corral to
stay in at night.
Specializing In:
Weddings:
At the LumiVista Bed & Breakfast you can have a
fairy tail wedding.
The ceremony can be held by the pond, on the deck, in
front of the trees, or wherever you want..
If the weather is inclement the wedding can be held in
the house in front of the big windows.
It can be arranged to have the bride and groom brought
to the wedding in a horse-drawn carriage.
It can be arranged to have it catered - to include a
whole pig, lamb, and/or turkey barbeque.
Please ask for the current rate for full use the
facilities plus 2 nights lodging.
Education-Within-A-Vacation:
If you wish to combine education with your vacation
the LumiVista Bed and Breakfast on the Flathead Indian Reservation in Montana's
Glacier Country provides you with many opportunities to do so.
Think about the educational value of a vacation such
as this. Experience "The West" first hand. Go to a Pow-Wow.
Watch a stick game. Go to a rodeo. Meet and talk with and the Salish,
Kootenai, Blackfeet and other Native Americans. Strike up a
conversation with the farmers, ranchers, people in the stores, and on
the streets. Montanans are very friendly.
It is a wonderful opportunity to meet new friends
while learning something about them and their culture, how they live
and have lived.
