Bird Watching:
Presque Isle County a birder's paradise. Birds love the county
because there is an abundance of amazing forests, inland lakes and 72
miles of Lake Huron shoreline.
The county is located in an ideal location to see waterfowl, shore
birds, migrating song birds and numerous resident species, including the
majestic bald eagle.
The 74,000 acres of Mackinac State Forest form a convenient birding
area close to any place in the county. Grand Lake makes a great place to
start your birding experience as it is a common breeding lake for the
common loon.

- Enjoy campfires and walking on the beach (weather permitting).
- Visit the "Old" and "New" Presque Isle
Lighthouses; both within 1½ miles (a brisk walk) from your room.
- Hiking is available in Michigan's newest state park (Thompson
Harbor). The park features miles of hiking trails for the outdoor
enthusiast.
- Fishing is available off the "fishing" pier at Presque
Isle Harbor just up the beach from your room.
- Mountain bikes/snow shoes available for you to enjoy the
countryside.
- Canoe in North Bay and hunt for the sunken ship wreck.
