Called "A Classic Cape Cod Inn With The Spirit Of A
Small Luxury Hotel", this Inn not only features the peace and
beauty of Historic Cape Cod, it features a full sized pool, outdoor hot
tub spa and 12 fireplaces throughout the building and in the suites.
The Inn sits on 4 private acres and boasts a location
within walking distance to the beach, 1 mile from the whale watch harbor
and within minutes to everything the Cape has to offer...oh yea, guest
privacy is paramount here...different than just your average bed and breakfast!!!
The original section of the Lamb and Lion Inn was built
as a private home in 1740. The sprawling additions that have been added
on have helped to make a "unique combination of a classic Cape Cod
Inn with the spirit of a small luxury hotel". The seemingly
unending hallways that wrap around our cozy courtyard are painted in
murals of clouds and summer landscape, and the dozens of glass sliding
doors help to give this New England Inn an almost Caribbean open-air
feel.
When you enjoy our "deluxe" continental
breakfast in our sunporch, you may as well be poolside or deckside. If
your breakfast is enjoyed somewhere out on our four-acre grounds, you
will always feel close to your room.
Our Inn is equally as lovely in the colder months
boasting cozy suites with working wood-burning fireplaces and a gigantic
outdoor hot tub/spa!
Most importantly, we are much more than a bed and
breakfast! You don't have to eat at our table (unless you have a burning
desire to), and you have your own entrance and exit so please come and
go as you like! After all… this is your vacation.
Rooms:
The diversity of our accommodations allow guests to
become part of the laid-back atmosphere with many options, even their
own kitchens. Our facilities are even able to accommodate conferences,
private functions and special family gatherings such as weddings and
reunions. The pool and grounds are perfect for barbecuing - grills and
utensils are available.
We encourage our guests to become part of the ambiance of quiet
relaxation, congeniality and savoring sounds of old Cape Cod (even the
rumble and whistles of an occasional passing train). Our guests are
welcome to bring their well-behaved pets for a nominal fee with certain
restrictions.
In the hustle and bustle of life, wouldn't you enjoy the
peace of Old Cape Cod? Innkeeper Alice Pitcher cordially invites you to
relax at the Lamb and Lion Inn, while enjoying one of the world's most
unique and beautiful vacation spots, year round.
The "Lair":
This wing of the Inn features four separate but
adjacent bedrooms, all pool side with in room private baths, romantic
gas stove fireplaces, telephones and air conditioning. Perfect for
those who just want to make "reservations" for dinner.
The "Sweets":
Two spacious rooms with complete kitchenettes, in room
private bath, air conditioning, telephones and sliding glass door
access to the pool.
The "Lion's Den":
Hidden away down its own private staircase, "the
den" has a giant wood burning fireplace along with a
bedroom/sitting room, full kitchen, telephones and private bath.
The "Lamb's Retreat":
One bedroom and an additional loft sleeping area, an
oversized living room, full kitchen, telephones and private bath, this
is the perfect spot for two who want extra "elbow room", a
family, or the "traveling foursome."
The "Innkeeper's Pride":
For the "special time", this wonderful niche
features a spacious suite complete with wood burning fireplace, sunken
tub, bedroom/sitting room, kitchen, private bath, telephones and a
separate deck overlooking the garden and woods. This is Heaven!!
The "Barn-Stable"
Built in 1740 with the original home, "The
Barn" is the real thing. Rustic Cape Cod essence with three
sleeping areas, one bath, large living room with full kitchen &
dining area, telephones and French doors that lead out to its own
secluded deck for barbecuing . Perfect for four or five fun-loving
friends or a family.
Traveling Tips and Points of Interest:
Historic Route 6A:
We are actually located on Route 6A. Both Route 6A and
Route 6 run parallel to each other. If it’s a beautiful day and
you’re not in a huge hurry to get here, we highly recommend taking
6A east once over the bridge instead of Route 6. As you may have read,
Route 6A (or "Old King’s Highway") is designated one of
the top 10 most beautiful driving roads in the country. Lots of
history, great shops, snacking stops and glimpses of the ocean along
the way.
If you are taking 6A, follow signs to Barnstable and
you will find the Lamb and Lion Inn on your left exactly one mile
after you pass Route 132 on your right. You can’t miss our
award-winning sign either. It has a large, gold lion with a lamb
tucked into it’s side!
2 Bridges:
There are 2 bridges that take you to Cape Cod. There
is no other way by car. They are the Sagamore Bridge and the Bourne
Bridge. If you go over the wrong one, don't panic! They both drop you
off around the same place (like the Whitestone and Throg’s Neck
Bridges for you New Yorkers). Take 6 or 6A east from either bridge.
Early Arrivals:
If you get to the Lamb and Lion before the 3 PM check
in time, no problem! Don’t just drive around our parking lot in
circles waiting until 3 o’clock (it confuses our dogs). Come on
in!!! If you’re early and your room is ready, it’s yours! If
it’s not, you can walk to the beach, hang out by the pool, go for
lunch and a Bloody Mary at one of the many nearby restaurants…you
get the picture. (If it’s a cooler season you can cozy up in front
of one of the Inn’s many fireplaces!).
