And we are right in the middle... tucked away on two acres in the historic Bass River Village of South Yarmouth which was founded 358 years ago by English settlers. At the coming of the great age of sail, as the 19th century unfolded, Yarmouth became known as "the greatest nursery of seamen in North America". The experience of these world traveling seamen can be seen in the varied architecture of Greek Revival, French Second Empire and Gothic style homes.
About The House and Gardens:
Built in 1845 by a wealthy Sea Captain, this architecturally significant Greek Revival style home has been restored to its former glory. The restoration reflects its distinctive past while adding elegant sophistication to its guest lodgings. The ten accommodations all offer private en suite bathrooms with Jacuzzis, cable TV's with VCR's, phones, bathrobes and hair dryers and private
entrances. World class antiques and exquisite window treatments adorn all the rooms.
In our elegant dining room with its Waterford chandelier or in our glass enclosed greenhouse courtyard you will be served a full three course breakfast each morning. After breakfast, stroll or bicycle along the scenic Bass River. Pass by quaint Cape Cod river homes on your way to picturesque windmill park and to the warm ocean water beaches of Nantucket Sound. Fine restaurants, shopping, antiquing and great golf courses are all close by.
