In the heart of Maryland, overlooking picturesque Chesapeake Bay,
historic Annapolis emanates a Colonial atmosphere and the tradition it
still holds. Annapolis is most famous for being the "Sailing Capital of
the World" and one of the primary stops of the notoriously famous
Round-the-World boat race known as the Whitbread.
The Scotlaur Inn offers ten beautifully decorated, old-fashioned guest rooms
in the heart of Annapolis. The Scotlaur Inn and Chick & Ruth's Delly (where
breakfast is served) are the oldest family-owned businesses of their types in
the historic district of Annapolis operated by the same family. We take pride in
serving over 3 generations of families.
All rooms have private baths, Cable TVs (some with DVD players), telephones,
air conditioning and include breakfast. We have wireless internet.
You can relax on one of the many boat rides available on the Chesapeake Bay
or take a shot at the best rock fishing in the world. Stroll the City Dock,
enjoy the wonderful souvenir shops, 18th century mansions and comfortable
weather for which Annapolis is known. World Class restaurants are just minutes
away from The Scotlaur Bed & Breakfast. Tours of the historic Maryland State
House and Paca Gardens are also among the many other fine places to visit!
Right around the corner is the United States Naval Academy, where the finest
students become our finest naval officers. While you're still in town don't
forget to take a tour of the State Capital Building which was once the Capital
of the United States in the 1700's.
For a more unusual treat you can tour the town in style in a vintage
carriage. The Coachmen will point out historic places along the way.

Your Hosts:
Ted and Beth Levitt:
Ted has grown up working in the family businesses, The Scotlaur Inn and
Chick and Ruth's Delly. He was only away for a few short years while
attending college. One of Teddy's many fine accomplishments was graduating
from the Culinary Institute of America and Florida International University.
Beth joined the family in 1981 when she and Ted exchanged vows. Together
they operate both the Scotlaur Inn and Chick and Ruth's Delly. Beth has a
passion for tennis and played for Rolllins College in Florida and for the
University of Maryland. In between raising their two children, Scott and
Lauren, maintaining the household, and tracking the companies assets, she
still manages to get a little time for her favorite pastime. Oh, and did we
forget to mention taking care of the biggest kid of them all, Ted, that in
itself is a full time job!
Ted has an undying love for the Scotlaur Inn and Chick and Ruth's Delly.
He spends up to 10 to 15 hours a day, 6 to 7 days a week in the family
business. Everyday you'll find Ted all over the place performing tasks like
greeting every guest, taking orders from customers, working the grill,
helping the guests check in and out, running the register, doing handyman
repairs, and performing magic for all of the customers, like telling jokes
to both kids and adults. Ted, in his little spare time, loves to rebuild
Antique cars and scratch build HO-trains and remote control planes.
The Levitt family has owned and operated the restaurant and Inn longer
then any other Bed & Breakfast in the Annapolis Historic District.
We're looking forward to meeting you and having you as our guest in the
Scotlaur Inn. We welcome you to join us while we recite The Pledge of
Allegiance to the Flag of the United States. This is a tradition started
many years ago by Chick and Ted. This is done every morning, Monday through
Friday at 8:30am and Saturday & Sunday at 9:30am in the Chick and Ruth's
Delly.
Scott Levitt:
Scott shares his love in acting with his sister Lauren, and has appeared
as a guest on America's Most Wanted and in many Television commercials. He
has also performed in many famous musicals such as the Newsboy in "Gypsy"
and Oliver in the Broadway classic "Oliver"!
On top of becoming an exceptional actor, he is an accomplished drummer.
He has been playing since the age of three when his grandparents (Chick and
Ruth) purchased him his first full set of drums.
Scott's love in life is in the field of Medicine. His dream is to make
the difference in the lives of people and to become a Cardiothoracic
Surgeon.
Lauren Levitt:
At the age of three Lauren asked, "When did you realize I was born to be
an actress?" This explains her love for theater. She has been a professional
actress since the age of six, performing in numerous shows including
"Annie", "The Sound of Music", "The Wizard of Oz", "Beauty and The Beast",
"Gypsy", and "Joseph...", and "The Diary of Anne Frank". Lauren can also be
seen on television, film, movies, and print.
Chick & Ruth Levitt:
The Scotlaur Inn was a dream come true for Chick and Ruth Levitt. Chick &
Ruth supported their family with Chick and Ruth's Delly and a little rooming
house with 12 rooms and only 2 bathrooms above the Deli. One of Chick and
Ruth Levitt's many dreams were to establish a beautiful historic Bed &
Breakfast Inn. However they never had the resources to make that dream come
true.
Our building was built on its Historic Foundation in 1899. It was the
site of the original Annapolis City Hotel, from 1788 to 1890. On this site
George Washington lived for some time after he retired as Commander in
chief. Six months after Ruth passed away in 1986, there was a large fire in
the rooming house above Chick and Ruth's Delly. Chick and Ted rebuilt and
remodeled the entire upper level to its current status, which is known
world-wide as the Scotlaur Inn Bed & Breakfast, named after Chick and Ruth's
grandchildren Scott and Lauren. When staying with the Levitt's at the
Scotlaur Inn, you're perpetuating the legacy of Chick and Ruth.
