Nestled on 26 acres just several miles east of Frederick
in Mount Pleasant, known for its beautiful horse farms, is this charming
stone and log home offering guests a peaceful setting and weekend
retreat.
Guests step into a delightful setting which includes
Addison's Run, a nearby brook, beautiful in any season.
You'll wake each morning to the sound of birds and see
nature in all its glory. Your hosts have visited some of the finest
bed and breakfasts in the Mid-Atlantic region and take great pleasure in sharing
their antique furnishings they've collected during their many travels.
Guests enjoy the privilege of a private entry to their
rooms. A massive stone fireplace, stained glass windows and skylights
highlight the Keeping Room, a public room within the Inn where guests
can unwind or socialize. Each guest room offers a delightful 19th
century ambiance combined with modern conveniences of private baths,
queen size beds, A/C, and television. In-room phones are available, upon
request.
A deluxe continental breakfast of seasonal fruits, fresh
baked breads or muffins, cheese, yogurt, cereal and granola is served
each morning. Whether you're enroute to another destination or simply
need a getaway weekend, Shirley and Dwight will make certain your stay
is pleasant.
Guest Rooms:
Log Room:
It features old oak hardwood floors, and the hand
hewed logs which came from the old log section of the original home.
There is a light fixture which was an oil lamp, now used as an
electric ceiling fixture. The room is furnished with country pine
antiques, and has the back portion of an old sleigh made into a
loveseat. The iron bed is covered with a colorful quilt. The private
bath features a clawfoot tub with a hand held shower, a wash stand and
pottery sink.
Victorian Room:
Furnished with Victorian furniture, this is a large
room with plenty of exterior light. A beautiful, high back walnut bed
dominates the center of the room. To the sides are a marble top
dresser and wash stand and a love seat with two ornate chairs. The
private bath has a claw footed tub, and a separate free standing
shower. There is also a non working fireplace.
Hunt Room:
Across the hall is the Hunt Room, named from the hunt
motif. Its features are antique hunt prints, along with curtains hung
on a pair of brass hunt horns. The furniture is antique pine from
Ireland, Scotland and the U.S.A. The bed is iron and brass, covered
with a quilt matching the wall stenciling. The love seat is a wagon
seat which was found in the attic of Shirley's parents home. The bath
has a pottery corner sink, along with a tub shower and combination.
Plantation Room:
Down the hall, and around the corner you will find our
fourth room called the Plantation Room. It is furnished with a four
poster canopy bed, and all the furniture is antique. It has popular
random width floors, and a oriental rug. Other features are the tile
backed wash stand from England where the TV is hidden, also a chair
and love seat. The bath in this room has a pottery sink incorporated
into a wash stand.
All guest rooms have stenciling somewhere within them.
You can view from any room our 26 acres. Guests enjoy the privilege of a
private entry to their rooms.
Splendid Day-Trip Excursions
Frederick, Maryland:
Founded in 1745 by English and German settlers,
Frederick is a city built by history. During the Colonial,
Revolutionary and Civil War eras many of Frederick's residents were
national heroes including Francis Scott Key and Barbara Fritchie, a
courageous Civil War heroine. The original town boundaries are the
perimeter of a 33 block area designated as the Frederick Historic
District.
New Market, Maryland:
Located five miles to the southeast of the Inn is New
Market, the antiques capitol of Maryland. The town's restored main
street features more than 50 shops which sell fine antiques and
reproduction furniture.
Civil War Sites:
Civil War buffs will enjoy a trip to Gettysburg,
Pennsylvania; Sharpsburg, Maryland (the site of the Battle of Antietam);
or Harpers Ferry, a town restored by the National Park Service. Each
historic location is only 40 minutes away.
Cultural Attractions:
The many cultural attractions offered in Washington,
D.C. and Baltimore, Maryland are less than an hour away.
