Experience what quiet country roads, wide porches for rocking, patio dining and an unhurried existence on our idyllic 4 acre woodland setting can do for you.

During our quiet season (winter) cross-country skiing and sleigh rides are available in neighboring towns. In the summer, there is beach combing and more.

Regardless of your seasonal preference, we dedicate our home to providing genuine and warm hospitality unlike you have ever known. We invite you to begin the experience of a peaceful and romantic haven here at Woodland Gardens.

Warm fireside chats and quiet piano music await you here. Come see why people are calling us "Maine country life at its best".

Best of all, home baked cookies and confections await your arrival!

What To Expect:

Our beautiful Maine setting, lavish country gardens, fieldstone walls, and covered porches are beckoning.

Woodland Gardens Bed & Breakfast is a picturesque Maine cottage nestled in the woods at the base of Mt. Agamanticus, just on the outskirts of Ogunquit. For the most discerning guests, it offers the serenity of Maine country life.

Woodland Gardens presents an intimate and reflective setting for your visit and is within minutes of the heart of Ogunquit's thriving summer resort area. The property is owned by Peter and Paulette O'Connor, who enjoy filling their home with happy guests seeking restful getaways, beach holidays, outdoor excursions, and country romance in a rural setting.

Woodland Gardens offers wide porches for rocking, a cozy screened porch for quiet summer evenings, a covered back porch for friendly conversation and a shade garden patio for outside breakfast dining.

Rooms:

The crackling fire is always burning during cool autumn nights and cold winter days. The huge living room and kitchen with their open tall windows draw you into the outdoors.

The attention to detail sets Woodland Gardens apart from others. Expect to find each room beautifully appointed for comfort and tranquility.

All our bedrooms have:

  • Cable TV's
  • Private baths
  • Stenciled walls
  • Individual thermostats for heat and air conditioning

All of our bedding is enhanced with European feather bedding and luxurious sheeting. Velvety soft Egyptian cotton robes are provided for your comfort. Neutrogena toiletries are also generously provided.

Enjoy evening turn-down service on your last night of stay with "Woodland Gardens" signature piece on your pillow.

Ralph Loren soft oversized bath towels appoint all our baths. Ceiling fans are in our carriage house deluxe rooms while those staying in our Woodland and Garden rooms have private entrances.

Beach chairs and thick jumbo beach towels are provided for our beach combers.

Breakfast:

Our resident hens reward us daily with large jumbo eggs for the best tasting omelets; and our large vegetable garden provides many of the ingredients used in our recipes, such as tomatoes, peppers, parsley, chives, sweet strawberries, Maine blueberries, and juicy cantaloupe for breakfasts out of this world!

Our kitchen is the heart of activity, where fancy homespun breakfasts are prepared for your enjoyment. Gourmet breakfasts include coffee, flavored teas, home made apple jelly, fresh juices, the freshest fruit, and home made granola. Hot entrées like applesauce crepes, cherry blintzes, stuffed French toast with apricot sauce drizzle, and eggs benedict are but a few of the hot entrees you can expect to find at Woodland Gardens.

And of course our table is ever changing with beautiful table linens, antique dishes, fine china and stylish stoneware making our breakfasts a feast for the eyes as well as the palate.

Welcoming snacks are set out late afternoon with cold spring water and iced tea in warm weather. When it's cold, steeped Earl Gray and herbal teas, hot cocoa or mulled apple cider help to keep guests warm and pampered.

Chocolate Moose:

Because our moose visits the grounds so often we have come to call her Chocolate. Perhaps she will visit when you visit. Let's hope so!

In addition, it is not unusual to see deer and wild turkeys visit our grounds. Bird watching is easily enjoyed with over 50 species of birds visiting our feeders throughout the year.

Personal Touch:

With advance notice, we can arrange special touches to personalize your visit such as balloon bouquets, special floral arrangements, a box of chocolate truffles or fine chocolates, or perhaps something specific and special to you. We will even keep it a surprise if you would like.

Porches:

Guests love to linger in our warm and welcoming porches. We invite you to relax in them as if they were your own. It's the perfect place to see flickering fireflies, listen to the crickets, hear the trickle of our water fountain, gaze at our shade gardens, or better yet, do nothing at all.

Want to wake up with the sun washing over you as you rock away early in the morning?

Our welcoming porch does just that and you always can find a guest or two slowly waking up as they sip fresh brewed coffee before breakfast. You will be made to "feel at home" and you will "want to linger".

Our cozy covered side porch is a favorite gathering spot for guests to mingle before departing for the day's activities. Good conversation and lots of laughter can always be shared here, and our Phoebe Birds who nest here, might even let you linger.
