The Maples Inn will offer you the feeling of being a resident of Bar
Harbor at the turn of the century.
Come and enjoy the simpler life of another time and leave the stress
and care of today's world behind.
Built in 1903, The Maples originally housed wealthy summer visitors
to Mount Desert Island.
Located on an attractive, tree-lined, residential street, The Maples is
a short walk to attractive boutiques, many excellent restaurants, and
the surrounding sea.
Acadia National Park is less than two miles from our door. Come and
watch the breathtaking sunset from atop Cadillac Mountain and enjoy
choosing from 160 miles of hiking and biking trails.
With more than 20 years of area experience, we will be happy to
assist with planning your days on our island.
Gourmet Breakfast:
A hearty breakfast is served each morning in the bright and sunny
dining room.
We take great pride in our breakfasts – a full, served, gourmet
meal that is freshly prepared and beautifully presented.
Your palate will be treated to gourmet delights and you'll have the
opportunity to engage in good conversation with other inn guests.
Each morning we greet our guests with a choice of freshly brewed
regular or decaffeinated coffee, a wide assortment of regular and herbal
tea, followed by a chilled glass of juice.
A warm or chilled fruit dish is presented in our next course and we
finish with a hot entrée that is either a sweet or savory dish.
Each day brings a different culinary delight. We pride ourselves in
not repeating dishes during your stay, so you can sample a variety of
dishes from our repertoire. Our signature dish is Blueberry Stuffed
French Toast.
Scrumptious afternoon refreshments are also served on the front porch
in summer and in front of a cozy fire in winter.

Activities:
When guests are planning their first visit to Mt. Desert Island, they
often ask how long they should plan to stay here in Bar Harbor.
If you enjoy outdoor activities, especially hiking and biking, we
suggest that you plan on spending at least three days.
Acadia National Park offers over 160 miles of hiking trails and over
50 miles of carriage roads, just waiting for you to hike or bike.
In the spring, summer and fall, you can be whale watching, sailing,
kayaking, canoeing and many other activities. If you are the type that
likes to "do it all", we suggest you spend at least a week.
Day trips can be easily taken to Castine, Blue Hill, Deer Isle and
Schoodic Peninsula.
No matter when you visit Mt. Desert Island, you will find yourself so
caught up in its natural beauty, you will be planning your next visit
before you leave us.
