About Blue Belle Inn:
Located in St. Ansgar, Iowa, "The Best little
Hometown in Iowa", the Blue Belle Inn Bed and Breakfast awaits you!
Rediscover the romance of the 1890's while enjoying the comfort and
convenience of the new millennium in one of six distinctively decorated
guest rooms.
Built in 1896, the interior of the Queen Anne Victorian is highlighted
by fireplaces, wood floors, tin ceilings with ornate moldings, and eight
foot maple pocket doors.
Leaded glass, stained glass and crystal chandeliers set in bay and
curved windows pockets create a shimmering interplay of light and color.
A gleaming maple banister winds to the second floor and opens onto a
balcony overlooking sprawling maple trees, flowers and a fish pond.
Candlelit, lace-covered tables, heirloom china and
festive foodstuffs featuring German, English, French Italian,
Scandinavian or American Country cuisines provide an unforgettable
dining experience for weekend guests and local patrons alike.
Curl up in a corner with a good book or explore St. Ansgar's unique
Victorian, antique and country stores, tea room, and bridal theatre.
Rent a canoe and float down the Cedar River or take a scenic countryside
bike ride.
Hunting, cross country skiing, golfing, fishing and hiking are favorite
local pastimes.
Events at the Inn include concerts, murder mysteries, horse-drawn sleigh
rides, quilting, cooking, craft workshops, and various other good times
throughout the year.
Rooms:
Never Never Land:
"Wendy and John and Michael stood on tip-toe in
the air to get their first sight of the island. Strange to say, they
all recognized it at once, not as something long dreamt of and seen at
last, but as a familiar friend to whom they were returning home for
the holidays." - from "Peter Pan" J.M. Barrie
This room contains a queen size bed, private bath with
clawfoot tub, and French shower.
Sherwood Forest:
Robin led Marian's horse forward at a slow pace. In a
little while they came to a rising ground, and approaching the top
they saw the sinking sun gleaming redly through the trees. At the
summit they found the trees gave place to a gentle slope of green
sward, and before them, beyond some meadows, lay a castle. - from
"Robin Hood" Henry Gilbert
This room contains a queen size bed, private bath with
shower, and shared access to the third floor Jacuzzi for two.
Secret Garden:
"Mary liked the name, and she liked still more
the feeling that when its beautiful old walls shut her in no one knew
where she was. It seemed almost like being shut out of the world in
some fairy place." - from "The Secret Garden" Frances
Hodgson Burnett
This room features a king size bed, private bath with
shower, and access to the third floor Jacuzzi for two.
Plum Creek:
"The creek was singing to itself down among the
willows, and the soft wind bent the grasses over the top of the bank.
All around the door green vines were growing out of the grassy bank,
and they were full of flowers. Red and blue and purple and rosy-pink
and white striped flowers all had their throats wide open as if they
were singing glory to the morning." - from "On the Banks of
Plum Creek" Laura Ingalls Wilder
This room features a king size bed, private bath with
Jacuzzi for two, a clawfoot tub, and a fireplace.
Heaven to Betsy:
"During supper and the early evening Betsy was
alone in her room. Sad as she was, she enjoyed lying in bed, warm,
petted, while
familiar sounds floated up from below. This was only an interlude.
Tomorrow she would be up on her two feet, facing the world and her
trouble." - from "Heaven to Betsy" Maud Hart Lovelace
This room features a king size bed, private bath with
Jacuzzi for two, fireplace, and skylights.
Sleeping Beauty:
This room features a twin size trundle bed with a
shared bath. It may be rented in connection with another room only.
- All rooms have air conditioning.
- All rooms have access to a kitchenette with
refrigerator and microwave.
- Each room has it's own TV/VCR.
