Breakfast Getaway Retreat's two comfortable guest houses with relaxing
riverfront views and the spacious five acre grounds.
The Getaway Lodge features three luxury suites (Bordello, Frontier,
Timber), each with its own Jacuzzi and fireplace, plus taste tempting
gourmet breakfast and romantic amenity options. Two Getaway suites also
offer private enclosed patio and outside entrance.
The Retreat Lodge, features five roomy accommodations, each offering
private bath and sleeping for up to four persons. The large gathering
room is the ideal space to host theme getaway package activities such as
Murder Mystery, "Foodie" & cooking events, scrapbooking
crops & crafts, bluegrass jam camp, GPS cache hunt, pet care
clinics, Native spirit wellness, River House weddings, and family or
group retreats.
The River House northern Illinois location is just far enough away
from Chicago for room-to-roam, but close enough to Rockford, Illinois
3rd largest city, to find variety entertainment and fine dining. From
live theater to antiques, golfing, a Japanese garden, or a State Park...
it's all nearby!
Accommodation:
Timber Suite:
The river view is great from the big picture window, but you'll
really enjoy sitting outside in your private screened patio to watch
the varied wildlife in the side pond. Inside, to make it feel
"woodsy" find a forest mural covering an entire wall of this
comfortable 600 square foot suite plus 5 person hot tub and chimnea
fireplace.
In-room hot tub, chimnea fireplace, private outside entrance from
own screened patio, private bath, 180 channel satellite TV/VCR, queen
bed and single sofa bed, overstuffed sofa & chair with coffee
table, refrigerator, coffeepot, guest bathrobes.
Bordello Suite:
The Bordello Suite features king size bed, an oversized two person
Jacuzzi, a wood mantle fireplace, satellite TV, refrigerator,
coffeepot and supplies, plus private outside entrance from own
screened porch with direct access to swimming pool. Romantic ivy
themed decor and picture window view of the river plus the poolside
flower garden make this a favorite for honeymoons and anniversaries.
Frontier Suite:
The Frontier Suite offers a queen size bed, western decor, private
bath, view of our woods, plus in-room fireplace and double Jacuzzi,
satellite TV, refrigerator, coffeepot and supplies.
Retreat Lodge:
Features 5,500 sq ft of space, five large guestrooms and huge
riverside gathering room, this B&B will be a favorite for Murder
Mystery weekends, cooking class and "foodie" getaways, family
reunions and vacations, business travelers and corporate retreats,
ladies getaways for Red Hats, scrapbook crops, quilting weekends,
scavenger hunts, bluegrass band scrambles, jam camps and house concerts,
plus the riverfront grounds provide a beautiful site for weddings.

Outside:
Ample parking is designated for guest vehicles. Play volleyball on
the spacious riverside lawn. Enjoy a refreshing dip in the heated
outdoor pool or how about a quiet chat by the campfire as you keep an
eye on a fishing line?
Inside:
Indian, cowboy, and western collectibles lend old time interest to
the contemporary comforts found in the River House common rooms. The
large windows offer plenty of light and great river views while the
wood burning fireplace warms up to evening conversations. Brighten
your morning with a gourmet breakfast served in the open dining room
or out on the screened patio (weather permitting).
The two River House cats, B-B & Whiskers, are guest friendly
and have been declawed. Cats are not allowed in guest rooms.
Breakfast:
Enjoy a full gourmet breakfast which may be served in the dining room
or in the screened patio.
Menu changes daily and every effort will be made to accommodate
special dietary needs. Food is served restaurant style at a time
prearranged for guest convenience.
No smoking is permitted at the breakfast table, but hugs are allowed.
A selection of complimentary cold beverages and snacks are always
available in the guest room refrigerators.
