Located in Henry County in north central Illinois, Aunt Daisy's is a bed & breakfast that serves both a good nights sleep and a memorable breakfast, all within an 1890 Midwestern home.

The home was built in the 1890's by Mary Quirk and her brother. They willed the home to the Catholic Church in 1911 and it served as the rectory until 1988.

Many weddings were performed here over the years. Photos of some of the weddings are featured on the staircase to the second floor.

Elaborate woodwork, stained glass, and an extensive collection of antiques complement the homes interior. Relax in your room, read a book in the library or enclosed porch, or take in some sun in the gazebo. Explore the music room, where you will find both a baby grand and 1929 player pianos.

Enjoy your room, where the modern conveniences haven't been forgotten. We welcome both business and leisure guests. Each room contains an outside telephone line, cable TV with VCR, desk, and a small refrigerator. Complementary bottled waters and soft drinks are included in your room. There is an assortment of popular video titles available at no charge.

Most importantly, central heat and air conditioning are controlled within your room. Each room has its own bathroom with either a shower or clawfoot bathtub.

Our goal is to provide choices to make your stay exactly what you want it to be!

Victorian Suite:

The largest of the rooms, the Victorian suite features a queen size four poster bed, its own sitting area, and private bathroom with shower. A large stained glass window brightens the sitting area. Marble topped furniture and an antique fainting couch complement the room.

Garden Suite:

A queen size four poster bed is the centerpiece of this room, which also features its own couch and sitting area overlooking the yard and garden. This room also has its own bathroom with shower.

The King Suite:

The King Suite features a king size bed, with several marble topped Eastlake furniture pieces throughout. This room has the largest bathroom in the house, with an antique 6 ft. clawfoot bathtub. This room also contains an antique desk to accommodate business travelers.

The Hampshire Suite:

The Hampshire suite has a new king size bed, and its own sitting area overlooking the yard. This room also has a large bathroom with a standard claw foot bathtub along a wall of screened windows.

Aunt Daisy's is only 2 blocks from downtown Kewanee, where the popular Good's Furniture store is located. Goods is the premier furniture store for the northern half of the state. Good's occupies several buildings in downtown Kewanee, and is a must see when you visit. The Iowa gambling boats are a 40 minute drive west. 5 miles north on route 78 is Johnson Sauk Trail State Park, where hiking, fishing and picnicking are available. Bishop Hill, a 19th century Swedish Settlement, is also nearby. The local theater shows first run movies nightly, and is within walking distance. Antique shopping can be found in Kewanee and several other small towns in the area. Golfing at the Kewanee Country Club or the Kewanee park golf course can be arranged with advance notice. Both are excellent courses, with less traffic and better prices that most golfers are used to!

Directions:

From Chicago, take I 55 south, then I 80 west towards Des Moines. Exit at Route 78, (Anawan / Kewanee) and go south 11 miles. Two blocks under the Good's Skyway, turn right on Central Blvd, and we are 2 blocks down, on the left. We are 2 blocks south of the Amtrak station. (take the train out if you prefer, we can pick you up at the station, three blocks away)

Attention private pilots:

Kewanee Municipal airfield is a quick 10 minute drive from our home. It is a modern paved airstrip with fuel and tie downs available. You are welcome to fly in, and we can pick you up at your plane and return you to the airfield when it's time to go. Everything in downtown Kewanee is within walking distance.
