If you have been searching for a peaceful, private location for your vacation or honeymoon that exudes the feeling of "Olde Hawaii" then you have reached your destination!

We are located on the Island of Hawaii (known locally as 'The Big Island'. There are six major inhabited islands in the Hawaiian chain). The Big Island offers both the charm of 'Olde Hawaii', and the natural beauty of a tropical paradise.

Our delightful property is situated on the Wailuku River above the town of Hilo, in the older, elegant part of town.

Just 2 miles from downtown Hilo, and only a short 10 minute drive from Hilo International Airport, we provide easy access to the Hamakua coastline, and all of the island's main attractions!

We look forward to hearing from you, and entertaining you in our home in the very near future!

The Old Hawaiian B&B is a member of the Hawaii Island B&B Association.

Our Home:

The Old Hawaiian B&B is a two story 'Olde Hawaiian Style' home located on ½ acre of gorgeous landscaped grounds, backing onto State owned land, and the Wailuku River. It is situated in one of the most peaceful and tropical areas of Hilo, and only two blocks from the Boiling Pots Park, which has an overlook of the river.

There is ample parking for guests off street, with a private entrance to our guest quarters at the rear of the driveway Our property is located on Wailuku Drive, a very quiet street, lined with well-kept large older homes with mature landscaping.

The rear of the home is where you will find the covered lanai where guests enjoy their morning breakfast to the sounds of a variety of birds singing!

There is lush tropical landscaping throughout the entire property. You will find such plants as the colorful Heliconia growing in the garden.

Many tropical fruit abound: papaya, mango, banana, lemon, orange, tangerine, and pineapple. Much of our breakfast fruit served to our guests grows in our own gardens!

At the back of the garden you will find a garden with extensive colorful flowers growing on property next door. At the back of the property there is also the pathway to the cliff above the Wailuku River.

Charm, 'Olde Hawaiian' hospitality and comfort, in a relaxed atmosphere, is the essence of
The Old Hawaiian B&B.

The beach is just a 10 minute drive, where you can sunbathe, swim, snorkel, or for the more adventuresome, there is surfing or scuba diving. Walk to the many ancient Hawaiian fish ponds, or hike along the coast and watch the whales, dolphins, and turtles at play!

Rooms:

In an effort to provide our guests with a touch of "Olde Hawaii", our guest rooms are not afforded televisions or telephones. A phone is available for use, for local calls only. High speed wireless internet access is available.

Hawaiian Room:

Situated at the rear of the residence, with its private entrance, this outstanding room offers the perfect haven for honeymooners, or those seeking privacy and quiet. It looks out over the large manicured lawn and gardens towards the Wailuku River, and is surrounded by lush green foliage.

The very large bedroom, with its 10 foot ceilings, tiled entrance, and expansive windows that provide sweeping views of the gardens, has a king size bed, and large mirrored closet.

Guests have use of a microwave, refrigerator, and a large, covered shared lanai.

The room includes comfortable day bed and trundle to accommodate additional guests.

Large tiled bathroom affords an oversized sunken bathtub surrounded by candles for that intimate late night soak!

Bathroom also has a separate shower to accommodate two!

Fresh flowers adorn both the bedroom and bathroom.

Sunrise Room:

The Sunrise Room, with its own entrance, is situated at the north end of the residence, and with its three windows, affords the early morning light!

The room has 10 foot ceilings, offers a queen size bed, and two sitting chairs. The Sunrise Room is mid-size between the Hawaiian Room and our Bamboo Room.

The room is light and airy, and the private bathroom provides a tiled, spacious shower with toilet.

The room is a nice size, also with 10 foot ceilings, and offers a queen size bed, private bathroom with shower, and a sitting area.

Your Hosts:

Stewart Hunter, and his wife Lory, scouted the islands for the perfect location, and the ideal home for The Old Hawaiian Bed &Breakfast. They decided upon Hilo because of its 1950's small town atmosphere, and beautiful surroundings. Unlike many locations in Hawaii, Hilo is neither too hot, nor too cold... the weather stays perfect most of the time!

Lory loves cooking, (evident by her delicious homemade breads and pastries!), gardening, and meeting new people.

The Old Hawaiian Bed &Breakfast has not only proven itself to be a wonderful haven for those seeking privacy, and a taste of "Olde Hawaii", but its success has recently enabled Stewart and Lory to remodel an additional floor of their magnificent home in order to accommodate extra guests!

As your hosts, Stewart and Lory look forward to having you as guests, and are here to help provide a relaxed environment so you can enjoy your vacation on the Big Island of Hawaii!
