Step into life on a century-old working macadamia nut and Kona coffee
farm.
You are surrounded by birds, tropical fruit, and exotic flowers.
Become part of the spectrum of living history, where more than 2,000
Hawaiians farmed the narrow Keei strip to trade with their ohana
(family)--hunters in the mountains and fishermen on the beach.
Your room reflects Hawaii outdoors, with screens that bring in the
stars at night and the sound of banana leaves on tin roofs. Awake to the
smells of brewing Kona coffee and homemade bread, to begin your hearty
farm breakfast. Look down on the surf from the large lanai, where
everyone gathers to watch the sunset in the evening. Eat all the mac
nuts you can collect from the farm.
Choose between the farmhouse, greenhouse and coffee barn, all with
queen beds, private baths and private entrances. Prepare picnics or
simple dinners in the common kitchen area. Coolers and beach equipment
are there for your use. Hang loose and enjoy!
-
Enjoy a breakfast, including homemade jams, jellies, and breads,
along with our daily special.
-
Pick your own exotic fruits and mac nuts in season to share as
you wander the farm.
-
On nearby native beaches, snorkel, scuba dive, or kayak near
turtles, dolphins, and rare tropical fish.
-
Star gaze or watch the sunset on the large lanai overlooking Keei
Bay and the Pacific Ocean
-
Beach equipment, Common Kitchen area with BBQ available
Swim local bays with sea turtles, dolphins, and a wide variety of
tropical fish. Discover old Hawaii nearby at the Place of Refuge
National Historical Park, Painted Church, and Kealakekua Bay, where
Captain Cook met his death more than 200 years ago. Experience a corner
of the Islands only 12 miles from Kailua-Kona yet still relatively
untouched by tourism. Excellent nearby restaurants, hiking trails, and
beaches. Best island snorkeling.
Rooms:
The Coffee Barn:
Experience island living secluded among tropical foliage with half
bath inside and your own hot water outdoor shower. Ideal for
honeymooners and families, sleeps up to 5 people.
The restored and converted coffee barn is very popular.
Reservations have to be made early to get this room!
Plenty of fresh air combined with a 1500 foot elevation make air
conditioners obsolete. At night you can look out the tall open windows
and become transfixed with the myriad of stars unseen from crowded
cities and bright lights!
The Greenhouse Rooms:
Large addition behind the house. Light, airy rooms, with private
entrance and bath, queen bed and double futon. Sleeps up to 4 people.
The Farmhouse:
Make yourself at home in the front bedrooms of the restored
farmhouse. Private bath and queen bed. Share the TV, Hawaii videos,
games, and library.
Come to Lucky Farm today and experience living on a century-old
working macadamia nut/Kona coffee farm surrounded by birds, tropical
fruit, and exotic flowers!
