The owners of the Whistle Stop Bed & Breakfast are
former Texans who, by the way, love Texans and travelers from all over
the United States and the world.
In fact, it was their interest in other
people, travel, skiing, and other outdoor recreation that led them to
open their B & B in Fraser, Colorado, just six miles from the world
class Winter Park Ski Resort, one block from the Winter Park Amtrak
station and a short distance to national forests with their hiking and
biking trails. We speak English, Spanish and Russian.
Fraser, Colorado is a former logging town with an
interesting history which includes Ute Indians, pioneer settlement by
the Cozen, Morrow and Clayton families and Dr. Susan Anderson, pioneer
physician; development of the railway west, the location of a German
Prisoner of War camp and being President Dwight Eisenhower's favorite
place to fish and visit old friends.
Open since August, 1996, the Whistle Stop Bed &
Breakfast is in a home built in 1987; contemporary in design and decor,
it is decorated in a bright and cheerful manner, featuring the
watercolors of Karen Vance, a local prize-winning artist. Clean and
roomy for all of your travel necessities, each of the three guest rooms
has a queen bed and a private bath, with bathtub and shower, clock
radio, closet and drawer clothing storage. A five person hot tub on the
deck with fabulous views of the Continental Divide peaks and the Winter
Park Ski Resort rounds out the physical amenities.
Start your day right with a complete down-home
breakfast, Whistle Stop style, that always features freshly ground and
brewed coffee, a wide selection of teas, fruit juice and fresh fruit
salad. Homemade biscuits or toast, potatoes, thick sliced bacon or
sausage and eggs cooked to your taste are standard fare; occasional
options include pancakes, waffles, or French toast with pure maple
syrup. Grits are always available upon request!
Help yourself to the bottomless cookie jar before you go
out to recreate and then return to the comfort of the hot tub, which has
special jets to massage your feet, calves and back! The ski area free
shuttle stops just a block away making the whole Winter Park Fraser
Valley easily accessible without a car. After a wonderful meal at one of
many fine area restaurants, several within walking distance, you may
wish to relax and watch one of the movies in our collection of videos.
You may prefer to just sit by the wood stove and dream about tomorrow!

Experience western mountain life in the former logging
town of Fraser at the Whistle Stop Bed and Breakfast. This bright,
contemporary home is designed for casual living where guests can enjoy
sun rooms and spacious living areas with broad and breathtaking views of
the Continental Divide.
Snuggle by the warmth of the wood stove or, at the end
of the day, comfort your tired muscles in the rejuvenating hot tub. The
Whistle Stop accommodates guests in five rooms, three with private bath
and two with shared bath. Each guestroom is on a different level of the
home, ensuring maximum privacy and comfort during your stay.
After a savory breakfast, you may wish to explore Winter
Park/Fraser Valley. The free shuttle makes a regular stop, day and
night, one block from Whistle Stop and takes you to destinations in
Fraser, Winter Park, and the Winter Park Ski Resort, making a car
unnecessary during your stay. You can mountain bike through some of the
scenic trails, hike and survey some Colorado wildlife, or go ice or
in-line skating.
For golfers, two clubs in the area offer three lush
green courses. Whistle Stop is also within walking distance of some
great shopping.
Oh yes, there is great skiing, too! There's a reason why
Winter Park Ski Resort is Colorado's favorite... it gets an average of
370 inches of snow a year and has 126 trails and 20 lifts. There are
plenty of mountains and runs for beginners, advanced and extreme skiers,
and snowboarders. Cross-country ski or snow shoe in the national forest
on trails just a few blocks from the bed and breakfast, on groomed
trails at either Devil's Thumb Cross-Country Ski Center, or on the
lighted trails at Snow Mountain Ranch, the YMCA of the Rockies. You may
prefer to go on a dog sled, snow scoot ride, experience big fun on the
snowtubing hill or take a snowmobile tour.
Enjoy a late afternoon cup of tea, cocoa, or coffee and
delicious homemade cookies by the fire after your excursions. Later, you
may want to discover one of the many wonderful culinary choices at fine
restaurants in Fraser and Winter Park; included in these choices are
