The Shenandoah Inn has been offering superb lodging to
visitors to the Basalt area for 10 years.
Situated on two riverfront acres on the gold medal trout
waters of the Frying Pan River, it is a secluded, restful getaway within
walking distance of the fine galleries and restaurants of Basalt, and 20
minutes from Aspen and Glenwood Springs.
Also available is our recently restored 100 year old log
cabin which sleeps 4. Gourmet fireside breakfasts, intoxicating
riverside hot tub. Come see why Doris Kennedy (Denver Post), calls us
"one of Colorado's finest inns." Innovative, fun, and
downright delicious!
About Shenandoah Inn:
Within the lush green landscape that silhouettes the
Frying Pan River, Shenandoah Inn has been welcoming guests to the Basalt
area since 1990. Situated on two private riverfront acres, you are
within walking distance of the fine shops, galleries, and restaurants of
Basalt, and twenty minutes from the world class resorts of
Aspen/Snowmass. Centrally located, Basalt offers the best of Colorado
outdoors.
Shenandoah is a country-style bed & breakfast with
four distinctive guest rooms, each with private bath and an unobstructed
view of the river. The living and dining rooms share a 18-foot high rock
fireplace, where guests can curl up with a hand-woven afghan, a book,
and soft jazz. Our library has cable TV, VCR, movies and games. An
expansive deck surrounds the inn, and accommodates our riverfront hot
tub. Our historic log cabin is available for a perfect, restful holiday
with lots of privacy.
With more than 25 years of professional cooking
experience, guests are treated to a delicious, full breakfast:
fresh-squeezed juice, seasonal fruit, creative hot entrees, homemade
breads and preserves from our garden, gourmet coffees and teas, served
in our sun-filled dining room overlooking the river.
As 30-year residents of the Aspen area, we are happy to assist you in
planning your visit. Whether taking in the activities or just indulging
in a weekend escape, you will find Shenandoah Inn as magical and
romantic as its name.
Log Cabin:
Once the original homestead for the Shenandoah property,
the cabin was built circa 1896, and housed Midland Railroad workers. It
was completely restored in 1996, and is Shenandoah's most popular
amenity. Fully equipped right down to the TV and VCR, it sits directly
on the Frying Pan River, by the property's best fishing hole. Two
bedrooms (a queen log bedroom downstairs, and a twin-bed loft upstairs)
sleep four, with a large double bathroom. A cozy western decor, complete
with gas log fireplace in the living room and full kitchen. Private and
romantic.
Rooms:
All with private baths, antique dressers, in-room
refrigerators, down quilts and pillows, fresh flowers, imported
chocolates, robes and flip-flops for the riverfront hot tub.
The River Room:
This is our south-facing riverfront room with an oak
queen sleigh bed, a balcony that hangs over the rushing Frying Pan
River, and a large skylight for moonbaths and star-gazing. You can't
get any closer to the river unless you sleep on a raft.
The Meadow Room:
This room has a Mission-style king bed by a large
picture window that frames the river. The private double bath with a
tub/shower is the largest in the inn.
The Canyon Room:
This room welcomes the sunrise and shares a view of
both the river and the lower Frying Pan Canyon. The queen bed is black
walnut Arts and Crafts, in a rose-and-silver art deco motif.
The Orchard Room:
This room faces west and overlooks the river and our
small, sunny orchard (the source of our home-made fruit preserves),
with a queen-size iron canopy bed romantically draped in voile. A
window seat is the perfect place to watch the tanagers playing in the
cherry tree.
