Nestled in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains among acres of orange groves, only 16 miles from Sequoia National Park, lies The Plantation Bed & Breakfast of Lemon Cove, CA. The plantation is a peaceful country getaway located in a small citrus community with a population of 191, yet conveniently located on the two-lane scenic California Highway 198 with various tourist attractions and over 100 restaurants within a 20 minute drive.

Take a step back in time when you walk into the ruins of the original settlers' house, built from river rock in 1880. Stroll through the orange grove around the bed and breakfast and you will also see some peach, plum, apricot, cherry, apple, tangerine, avocado, fig, pomegranate, lemon, banana, walnut and olive trees, in addition to grapevines and blackberry bushes.

Watch the sunset from the veranda, a glider under the fig tree or a hammock in the gazebo. The swimming pool, which is heated in the spring and fall, and the Jacuzzi Hot Tub, always heated and located out in the orange grove for privacy, are open 24 hours. So you can wrap up your day in one of our fluffy robes, slip out to the Jacuzzi to soak and unwind, and enjoy millions of stars in the peaceful country night.

Mornings Are Special

At the Plantation Bed and Breakfast wake up to sunshine, the sound of chirping birds and the aroma of Chef Marie's lavish gourmet breakfast. The meal begins with a buffet laden with freshly picked fruit from the local fields, homemade granola, biscuits, muffins, jams and coffee cake all made from scratch and ends with a sumptuous hot entree'. Every morning, Scott picks oranges from the plantation groves for freshly squeezed orange juice. Enjoy this memorable meal in the elegant dining room or sit outside in the spacious brick courtyard overlooking the pool and gardens.

Melanie:

Melanie's pure and sweet character is reflected in lavender and green watercolor floral and wicker furniture. French doors open to a veranda where you can enjoy the evening sunset. It has a queen bed and shares a large bathroom in the hall with one other room. Fluffy robes are provided in all rooms.

Scarlett O'Hara

Scarlett O'Hara, less pure and sweet, thinks she belongs in an ivory tower and has taken the nicest suite for herself. Step into luxury. Snuggle up in front of the fireplace in the brocade comforter of the king bed or on the velvet love seat. Relax on her veranda above the world below. You'll really feel that you're in an ivory tower as you sit in the Jacuzzi in the marble bathroom surrounded by faux tower "windows".

Belle Watling:

Belle Watling, much less pure with her own brand of sweetness, has a posh, deep wine bordello atmosphere complete with red crystal chandelier and mirrored headboard on the king bed. A romantic clawfoot tub with shower sits in the room. Private bathroom.

Rhett Butler:

Rhett Butler, rakish friend of all the above ladies, has a gold antique tub with attached shower in the room and a throne room for the toilet. It has a massive, four-poster queen bed and is decorated in manly burgundy, forest green and paisley.

Ashley Wilkes:

• Ashley Wilkes, conservative blue blood, is done in subtle earth tones and has a king bed and large private bathroom with shower stall.

Mammy:

Mammy is close to hearth and home in her fireplace room off the parlor. A folksy quilt keeps her warm in her king bed. Beneath the quilt peeks a red petticoat reminiscent of Rhett's gift to Mammy. Sliding glass doors access her own deck off the brick courtyard. TV, VCR and private bathroom.

Prissy's:

Prissy's room is youthful yellow. It has a queen bed and shares a large bathroom in the hall with Melanie.

Aunt Pittypat:

Aunt Pittypat is across the courtyard and a little removed from the other rooms. This large and lacey suite has an over-stuffed chair, couch, TV, VCR and a clawfoot tub with shower. The bed can be two twins or a king. Be careful what you do with the extra room and privacy; Aunt Pittypat may faint!
