The Knickerbocker Mansion Country Inn is located in the
heart of Big Bear Lake, California.
Nestled on two-plus acres just
three blocks from the village and four blocks to the lake. It also backs
directly to the San Bernardino National Forest. The historic, rustic
log, main lodge was built in 1920 by William Knickerbocker, the first
Big Bear Lake Damkeeper, as a private home for his family. It was
converted to a Bed & Breakfast in the mid 1980's. It now consists of
the main lodge and a separate converted carriage house. The mansion
features nine standard bedrooms, each with private bath and two large
suites with private baths. All rooms feature queen beds, TV/VCR, and
telephones.
Main House:
There are four large, corner rooms located on the
second floor of the main house. Each is beautifully decorated with
antiques, quality linens, and an abundance of the original natural
cedar paneling. All rooms have private phone, TV/VCR, and an adjoining
private bath complete with tub and shower. Access to the second floor
porch (running the length of the house) allows guests to relax while
enjoying "tree top" views of the lake and surrounding
forest.
Penthouse Suite:
Sit on top of the world in this recently remodeled
suite. Featuring a king size pine four poster bed with two TV sets,
sitting area and a separate exterior outside entrance with a large
private deck perched on top of the world! Views in all four directions
from these large windowed dormers. Complete coffee service, small
refrigerator, private dining area and CD stereo system. The Vermont
Casting wood burning stove warms your toes in winter and you can soak
away your troubles in the large spa tub located in the bathroom
dormer.
Cedar I:
Charming room with cherry wood sleigh queen bed and
views of the Mansion's front lawn and National Forest.
Cedar II:
Delightful room on veranda side of house with four
poster queen bed, marble bath and "through the trees" view
of the lake.
Cedar III:
Lovely room with a pine four poster queen bed and
views of the Carriage House and National Forest.
Cedar IV:
Rustic room with walnut sleigh queen bed, marble bath,
with views of forest and lake.
Carriage House - Forest View I & II, Lakeview I
& II:
This secluded house has four cozy, romantic rooms on
the second floor. Each has its own outside entrance, private bath with
tub and shower, a gas log fireplace, telephone, TV/VCR, queen size
bed, and charming "log furniture" decor. Down comforters,
feather beds, and quality linens accent each room.
Carriage House Suite:
Located on the first floor of the Carriage House, this
luxury suite has a king size bed in a "sleeping nook", with
an expansive great room featuring a wood burning fireplace,
dining/game table, private phone, TV/VCR, stereo and coffee bar. In
the recently remodeled marble bath is an oversize spa/tub and separate
shower. Outside is a huge wrap-around deck with forest and lake views.
Forest View III:
This full handicap accessible bedroom and private bath
has a queen size bed and recently remodeled bath. Can be used as a
second bedroom and bathroom for the above suite.
