This Half Moon Bay area bed and breakfast located in Montara, a 30
minute drive south of San Francisco. The Farallone Inn is a great 1906
Victorian style, ocean view bed and breakfast on the San Mateo County Coast.
The bed and breakfast can accommodate parties of up to 40 people in the garden
area for weddings, family gatherings, and other special occasions. Soon
to come is a pizzeria on the premises, to provide another nearby dining
option for guests.
History Of Farallone Inn:
Built in 1906 as a roadhouse, the Farallone Inn still echoes its
turn-of-the-century heritage with the old red brick built into the
landscaping around modernized rooms.
Most likely built after the great 1906 earthquake by a German couple,
the Inn still displays a beautiful stained glass window with an
inscribed dedication written in German, possibly as a memorial to his
wife.
The Inn was later converted to a hotel, then changed hands in the
late 1950's and called the Farallone House. In the 1990's, the Inn was
purchased by a corporation that attempted to demolish it and build a
franchise in its place. Thankfully the County of San Mateo prevented
this from happening, citing the Inn's historic value to the town of
Montara. Soon after, it became the Farallone Inn Bed & Breakfast,
still retaining hints of the old hotel ambiance.
