The City Hotel of Columbia, California is centrally
located in the gold country of the beautiful Sierra Nevada foothills.
We operate two fine historic bed and breakfast inns in
Columbia State Historic Park; the City Hotel and the Fallon Hotel. These
hotels were built during Columbia's gold rush days. Today, they have
been beautifully restored and furnished with exquisite antiques.
The City Hotel contains a "three star"
restaurant featuring gourmet dining, an expansive wine cellar, and the
"What Cheer Saloon" with full liquor and espresso bar. The
Fallon Hotel contains the Fallon Ice Cream Parlour, where your ice cream
is served in waffle cones made right there, and the historic Fallon
Theatre where you can enjoy live theatre productions.
The City Hotel Corporation acts as a training center for
Columbia Community College's Hospitality Management Program. Students
from the College are trained in all phases of the hotel and restaurant
field, and work side by side with our regular professional staff. If you
are being served by one of our students, you are part of their final
exam, and your questions, comments or criticisms are sincerely
appreciated.
Lodging:
The City Hotel and its sister, the Fallon Hotel are
authentically restored 19th century country inns. There are 24 rooms,
all elegantly appointed with Victorian antiques, custom crafted wall
coverings and beautiful lithographs.
Two of the rooms at the City Hotel and five at the
Fallon Hotel open up onto balconies where one can sit and enjoy the
fresh air and street scenes. Each hotel has a sitting parlour where you
can peruse books and magazines or participate in one of many board games
made available to guests.
While we try to remain as faithful to 19th century décor
as possible, modern conveniences such as indoor plumbing, heating and
air conditioning have been added for your comfort.
Each room has a half bath and guests are provided with
shower baskets for the trip down the hall to the shower room. Children
are welcome, but pets are not allowed in either hotel. Smoking is also
not permitted within any of the buildings.
A generous breakfast buffet is served in the dining room
at the City Hotel and in the Ice Cream Parlour at the Fallon Hotel. The
menu consists of homemade granola, quiche, seasonal fruit, freshly baked
rolls or muffins, orange juice, our special blend coffee, and kids
cereals and milk for the children.
Things To Do:
The town of Columbia offers a variety of activities for
visitors of all ages and interests. In addition to our fine dining
facility, the City Hotel also provides several other enjoyable pursuits
