Bedlam Bed and Breakfast provides quiet suites with spectacular
Sonoran Desert views.
The name Bedlam was chosen when I opened in the 80's to prepare
guests for our four little girls and the pandemonium they could cause.
The girls are mostly grown now, but the name has stuck.
Nestled high on a hillside acre, our 5,000 square foot southwest
territorial home adjoins miles of virgin desert with 30 mile spectacular
views of several mountain ranges. These include the Mazatzals to the
north, the 7000 foot high Four Peaks to the east, and the Superstition
Mountains to the south.
At Bedlam, you will notice that beautiful interior decorating and
exterior landscaping create a tranquil feeling.
The dining area is beautifully decorated with family heirloom
antiques dating back to the late 1800's. Many of these pieces were
rescued from basements of buildings in Minneapolis.
Breakfast is served daily at 8:00 a.m. (or another time if
preferred). Special dietary requirements can be accommodated.
Rooms:
Our rooms face east for mountain sunrises. Each has a private
entrance and bath. All three rooms are complete with TV and small
stocked refrigerator and coffeepot just in case you like complementary
coffee or juice first thing in the morning.
You'll be pleased to know that our rooms are non-smoking.
Tumbleweed Room:
A tranquil feeling awaits you in the Tumbleweed Room.
The Tumbleweed room is on the main level for easy accessibility.
The soothing sound of the koi pond waterfall will lull you to
sleep. Gambel quail make their soft calls just outside your door as
they drink from the pond and graze with the rabbits on the grass.
The sunrise from your king size wrought iron bed greets you every
morning.
The plush couch is perfect for stretching out or curling up with
your favorite book. The large armoire holds the TV and stocked
refrigerator.
The coffee pot on the antique library table waits to serve you when
the mood arises.
As with all of our rooms, the Tumbleweed has a complete private
bath, television and telephone, is non-smoking with a high-speed
wireless internet connection.
The Coyote Room:
You go up the outside staircase to the rooms on the second level...
you have decided to stay in the Coyote Room.
The Coyote room has five windows to capture the beauty of all the
surrounding mountains, while the southwest decor invites you in.
The king size headboard was made by us at the same time we created
the cabinets and doors.
The rocking chair in the room is the one I rocked the girls in when
they were little.
The tables were purchased in Rocky Point, Mexico, and are made of
Cholla Cactus ribs. The round corner table with the class top has an
inlaid design of a howling coyote. Oh yes, each of the rooms comes
with a set of binoculars to help spot wildlife.
The love couch pulls out for a single bed if needed.
The room is complete with TV, refrigerator and coffee pot for that
first morning brew. The room also has a complete private bath,
telephone, is non-smoking and offers a high-speed wireless internet
connection.
You will enjoy the views from the porch swing just outside your
door.
Rosewood Room:
You climb the outside staircase to the second level rooms, as you
top the stairs the Rosewood Room is straight ahead.
The Charming Rosewood room affords early risers raspberry tinted
silhouettes of the Four Peaks mountain range.
The Queen Four Poster bed and period piece photos, pictures and a
lamp made from an old tobacco humidor, complete with smoking pipes
give the room it's cozy feel.
Above the TV you'll find framed needlepoint between two colorful
salvaged wooden doors.
The walk in closet has a coffee pot, refrigerator and plenty of
area to hang your clothing.
As with all of our rooms, you'll have a complete private bath,
telephone, the room is non-smoking and has a high-speed wireless
internet connection.
The wing back chair invites you to sit deep and read your favorite
novel.
You will enjoy the views from the porch swing just outside your
door.
Sunrise Room:
At the top of the outside staircase you will find the Sunrise room
on your left with the wood door.
You will definitely wake up on the sunny side in the Sunrise room!
Both windows face east. One frames the Four Peaks Mountains. The other
window captures the Superstition mountains including Red Rock, the
Goldfields and Needle Rock. All these are the home of the Apache
Thunder god and of the Legendary Lost Dutchman gold mine.
The bright yellow walls create a warm, sunny feeling. A king size
homemade four poster log bed adds to the sunny, comfortable decor.
We saw a bed just like this in Payson for $2,800. Wow! So we built
one ourselves out of Alligator Juniper, pine and worm wood. It took 10
days and 3 chiropractic treatments to finish. With the help of three
football players from Fountain Hills High we carried it upstairs where
it shall ever remain.
Above the log bed hangs the tanned hide of an elk harvested by
daughter, Tiffany, when she was twelve years old.
On the south wall we have six framed antique prints of Blackfeet
Indians. These are part of a mint condition collection owned by our
family.
The lantern in the room is a family heirloom. Tom's Grandfather,
Nils John Moline (of the founding family of Moline, Illinois), used it
to signal the trains of the Luce Line Railroad. There was no track
switcher on the line so Nils had to go out every night and signal the
trains.
You'll feel right at home with a refrigerator and coffeepot,
complete private bath, television and telephone, the room is
non-smoking with a high-speed wireless internet connection. You'll
enjoy the views from the porch swing just outside your door.
Everyone is welcome to relax on our large main level patio. Our pool
and spa are wonderful for star gazing or sun bathing.
