Mahogany Manor offers an upscale, comfortable lodging
experience located on a half acre wooded bluff lot at the edge of
downtown.
We offer the ambiance of a quiet, secluded first class
lodge that is within walking distance to the city center, Anchorage
Museum of History and Art and Sullivan Arena.
Revered as an "architectural masterpiece", the
manor house was originally built in 1947 with additions in 1952 and
1962. It is known by many as the "original mansion of
Anchorage", and was designed for entertaining friends as well as
dignitaries visiting Alaska during the '60s and '70's.
Guests may relax in the comfort of their private room,
enjoy viewing the extensive collection of Alaskan artwork or socialize
with others in any of the three expansive lounge areas.
The common lounges feature large screen TV's, two grand
fireplaces and impressive panoramas of the surrounding grounds through
oversized windows. Savor the sound of the floor to ceiling
waterfall at breakfast and at the end of a busy day, sip your favorite
beverage while relaxing next to a cozy crackling fireplace.
Of course our location offers easy access to an
abundance of restaurants, shopping and recreation. A bus stop, walking
path, bike path and cross country ski trail are all nearby.
During festivities, we are less than 1/2 block from the
world famous Iditarod and World Championship dog-mushing trail on
Cordova street, and we overlook Mulcahy Park for fireworks. Both are
viewed through three walls of picture windows or the 800 S.F.
In-room amenities include private bath, telephone,
high-speed cable modem, cable TV with VCR, hair dryer, iron 7 ironing
board, robes & slippers, Alaskan chocolates and more.
Rooms:
Each guestroom at Mahogany Manor is unique, private and
comfortable. Amenities in each room include extra blankets and pillows,
robes, slippers, hair dryer, make-up mirror, iron, cable TV and VCR. In
winter, guest accommodations have a view of the city skyline or
mountains. In summer, views are of the surrounding forest.

The Northern Lights room is light and bright decorated
in pastels. The large picture window overlooks the courtyard and
downtown skyline. The 2-room private bath offers a shower and toilet
in one room with a sink and mirror in an adjacent area. In-room
comforts include telephone, clock-radio, cable TV with VCR, robes,
slippers, make-up mirror, hair dryer, iron, an amenity basket and
Alaskan chocolates. This room offers a king bed, which can be
converted to 2 twin beds upon request, and can also accommodate a roll
away at an extra charge. The Northern Lights room is located on the
main level with the guest kitchen and entry area nearby. You will
overlook the courtyard with an abundance of trees and raised
flowerbeds (in summer). Your room also offers a wonderful view of the
downtown skyline. This room is accessible without stairs.
The Governor's Suite:
This is a large three-room apartment style suite with
2 private bedrooms. The 'Denali' bedroom offers a double bed while the
'McKinley' offers a queen. You'll enjoy a spacious common sitting area
which also offers a table, chairs and sofa. The private ceramic tile

chocolates. Your suite common area has a wall of sliding glass doors
on the south side that overlooks the surrounding woodlands. In winter
you have a view of the Chugach mountain range and midtown skyline. In
summer, you can catch a glimpse of the mountains and city skyline
through your private forest. To the north, a wall of windows overlooks
the courtyard with an abundance of trees and raised flower beds during
the growing season. You will also have a great view of the downtown
skyline year round. This room is accessible without stairs.
Sourdough Suite:
This is a large two-room apartment style suite with a
private bedroom with a queen bed. You'll enjoy a spacious common
sitting area which is furnished with a table, chairs and sofa. The
private ceramic tile bath has a shower and double vanity. There is a
large screen cable TV and VCR and a huge private deck overlooking the
whirlpool swim spa. The suite has an ample supply of closet space and
counter tops. In-suite comforts include telephone, clock-radio, iron,
robes, slippers, make-up mirror, hair dryer, amenity basket and
Alaskan chocolates. Your suite sitting area has a wall of sliding
glass doors on the south side that overlooks the surrounding
woodlands. Each winter you have a view of the Chugach mountain range
and midtown skyline. In the summer, you can catch a glimpse of the
mountains and city skyline through your private forest. To the north,
a wall of windows overlooks the courtyard with an abundance of trees
and raised flowerbeds during our short growing season. You will also
have a great view of the downtown skyline year round. This room is
accessible without stairs. It is ideal for a business person needing a
separate area to meet with associates. As an additional accommodation,
an adjacent room can be added to provide a lovely apartment setting
for a family or small group traveling together.
The Cabin:
The Cabin offers quiet seclusion on the lower level,
and is accessed down the floating, solid oak spiral staircase (14
steps) and through the Puffin Parlor. The room interior ceiling and
walls are warm redwood. There are 2 walls of windows with top-down,
bottom-up blinds that offer you maximum privacy while allowing you to
take in the beautiful views. A generous private bath with ample
counter space, tub and shower is located adjacent to the room.
Amenities include phone, clock radio, cable TV, VCR, iron, robes,
slippers, hair dryer, make-up mirror, amenity basket and Alaskan
chocolates. The cabin can accommodate a roll away at an additional
charge. As Mahogany Manor is located on a bluff with dense surrounding
woodlands, the location of this room within the house offers
considerable seclusion and privacy. During winter you'll enjoy a clear
view of the mountains and midtown skyline. During the summer when the
trees are in full bloom, there is a scant view of the mountains and
city skyline through your private forest.

shower and spacious double ceramic tile vanity. The dressing area has
an abundance of mirrors. Additional comforts include telephone,
clock-radio, cable TV, VCR, iron and ironing board, robes, slippers,
hair dryer, amenity basket and Alaskan chocolates. Enjoy seclusion and
privacy as you gaze through the two walls of windows. To the south,
our bluff location offers you a bit of sunshine shimmering through the
surrounding woodlands. To the west you will overlook the swim spa and
