History:
In 1976 the Fellers purchased the 2-acre property in Battles Wharf,
Alabama. This is a historic district between Fairhope and Point Clear on
Mobile Bay.
The property was purchased from Lucille Witmann, who had carefully
and lovingly planted the numerous varieties of camellias and azaleas.
Miss Witmann's 900 sq. ft. beach cottage was a fun place for a young
family with 3 small children. Two years later, after the birth of their
fourth child, more space became essential.
Construction of the home, designed by a close friend and well-known
Mobile architect, was completed in 1979.
The essential elements of the Bay front homes of the past were
incorporated in its casual, contemporary design.
Natural sunlight, views of the Bay, fresh air, decks and porches
provide the atmosphere for enjoyment of Bay front living.
Twenty nine years later, the "Younger Fellers" are young
adults with families and pursuits of their own.
Fellers Cove, as a Bed and Breakfast, was born in 1999.
It is designed to provide comfortable accommodations and amenities
for all types of travelers.
Feedback from guests have included:
- Businessmen who appreciated the spacious built-in desks and data
port as well as the needed privacy.
- Tourists from Spain (5) who were grateful for our fluency in their
language and who enjoyed Fellers Cove as a private mini-resort for
three days.
- A coach and avid ping pong player who enjoyed trying to defeat the
undefeated innkeeper.
- A couple from a nearby city who celebrated a wedding anniversary
with a 2-day stay. They toured the area as well as the shops of the
quaint village of Fairhope.
- A mother and daughter traveling across country appreciated the
feeling of a home away from home.
It is our desire that all who visit will enjoy this little bit of
God's creation as we enjoy sharing it with them.
