Follow the tree lined drive through the working citrus farm, past the
unusual sighting of a young baobab tree far to the south of its normal
habitat, to the comfortable farmhouse, where Johnny and Janine welcome
you into their family home.
Enjoy the peaceful and friendly farm atmosphere, use the swimming
pool, visit the small farm museum, walk through the extensive garden,
along the farm roads and through the orange and lemon orchards.
We have 3 accommodation units. One of the units is suitable for
either a family or a group of four. This suite has 2 separate bedrooms
which share a bathroom.
Country restaurants are conveniently situated nearby for evening
meals.
We are located about 1 hour from the coastal city of Port Elizabeth
in the Sundays River Valley and Zuurberg Mountain range.
Adventure:
The farm is just 18 km from the Addo Elephant National Park. Bookings
can be arranged for night drives in the Addo Elephant National Park or
nearby Private Game Reserves (where lions can be seen).
For the more adventurous, canoe and horse trails can be arranged.
Addo Elephant Park:
Addo Elephant Park is located in a malaria free area.
The park features a diverse and wide variety of game viewing, outdoor
adventure and cultural experiences. The variety of landscapes and
wildlife species will leave you with an impression of South Africa that
will stay with you forever. Few parks provide you with an
opportunity to see such diversity in one area.
At Addo Elephant Park, not only can you see the big 5 which are the
elephant, rhino, lion, leopard and buffalo, but you will also soon be
able to see whales and great white sharks!
A proposed expansion of the park will make the park have 372,000
hectares of park land plus 120,000 hectares of marine sanctuary!
Addo Farm makes an ideal location to stay at while visiting the park.
What To Expect At Addo Elephant Park:
Black-backed Jackals howl at night while the francolin's call heralds
each new dawn.
The original Elephant section of the park was created in 1931. At
this time, there were only 11 elephants remaining in the area. Today
however, there are over 350 elephants, 280 cape buffalo, black rhino, a
variety of antelope species along with the unique flightless dung beetle
which is found almost exclusively in the park. Thanks to the
conservation efforts, the grey leviathans of the bush now roam in peace
and are safe from their past persecution.
At visit to Addo Elephant Park will provide you with:
- Rich heritage of archaeological and historical sites
- Five of South Africa's seven major vegetation zones
- The Big 7 which include the elephant, rhino, lion, buffalo,
leopard, whales and great white sharks in their natural habitat
- A 120,000 hectare (296,500 acre) marine reserve that includes
