patios (where the seasonal whale, dolphin and sardine run may be viewed)
or partake in a host of activities and scenic drives. Nine golf courses
and a variety of restaurants are within easy reach.
The climate during April to June is particularly settled and warm
(not hot and humid) and makes for ideal holidaying. The nine golf
courses are of very good quality - an ideal venue for golfers to enjoy
value for money golfing whilst the non-golfers can enjoy the many and
varied facilities of the area.
Spacious bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, are beautifully situated
overlooking the warm Indian Ocean.
The seasonal whale, dolphin, and sardine runs viewed from our patios
are a must.

Self-catering facility, (or Family Room) suitable for a maximum of
four people, double/twin beds, double bunk, en suite bathroom
(shower).
Activities:
For those that like old narrow-gauge steam trains, then take a ride
on The Banana Express which runs between Port Shepstone and Paddock and
back (39 km) twice a week. A shorter route is also available.
Amanzimtoti beach, a little bit further north of us (approximately
100 km), is a popular location for its safe swimming and numerous other
activities and attractions.
Between between Umkomaas and the Wild Coast is where you will find
The Hibiscus Coast. The largest resort town along this coast is Margate
which is near to our location. Margate is very popular during the
holidays. The Hibiscus Festival is held in July.
For the nature lover, The Oribi Gorge Nature Reserve is a must see.
This reserve encompasses forest, rivers, rapids and ravines. This is a
bird watcher's paradise! The bird life is prolific to say the least. In
the reserve you will find many bird species including five kingfisher
species and seven eagle species which along with a variety of other
animals.
Another place known for its safe swimming Port Edward (to the south
of us). In addition, Port Edward also provides good fishing
opportunities. Umthamvuna Nature Reserve is nearby too. This reserve is
especially noted for its beautiful scenery, bird life and many rare
plant species.
Each year, at the end of June, Sardine fever strikes the South Coast!
People flock to the beaches to scoop them up, while anglers wait for the
game fish to arrive.
In Shelly Beach you will find The Shell Museum. This museum is well
worth a visit for the large display of shells.
Other popular coastal towns include Port Shepstone, St
Michael's-on-Sea, Uvongo and Scottburgh.

Three of the eight beaches in South Africa which have been awarded
Blue Flag status are on the Hibiscus Coast.
Margate Beach is within walking distance of the guesthouse, Ramsgate
Beach is less than 2 kilometers away and Marina Beach is approximately
15 kilometers from us.
The Blue Flag award is an internationally recognized emblem of
excellence awarded to beaches that have met stringent criteria, set by
an international panel. Blue Flag status endorse the fact that beaches
will offer superior facilities, including facilities for the disabled,
high safety standards, cleanliness and are also ecologically sound.
South Africa is the first country outside of Europe to receive Blue
Flag accreditation with KwaZulu Natal's Hibiscus Coast dominating the
longest line of Blue Flag beaches.

Directions:
- Follow the N2 (toll road) south from Durban.
- Glide off at Exit 29.
- At the stop street turn left into Alford Road.
- At the next stop street, National Road (R61) turn left (Ramsgate
North).
- Turn right into Marine Drive.
- Beachcomber Bay is on the right hand side at 75 Marine Drive, just
before reaching Margate.
