Balerno is situated 7 miles west of Edinburgh city centre on the A70.
The cottage is approximately 5 miles from the Airport, 1.5 miles from
Heriot Watt University, and has easy access to all major roads including
the City Bypass (A720).

Rooms:
Guests have a choice of super king or twin beds with en-suite or
private facilities.
The rooms are beautifully presented and all have a sitting area.
Up to four people can be accommodated in a suite of two rooms (king /
twin plus one twin) with private bathroom (shower over bath).
Complimentary teas and coffee, remote-control televisions, and
hairdryers in each room.
In the lovely breakfast room, you can start your day with fruit
juice, fruit and cereals, traditional cooked Scottish Breakfast and
toast with home-made preserves. Special diets can be catered for with
advance information.
The Studio:
The studio offers complete privacy, having its own entrance, and is
available for self-catering with mini-kitchen (fridge, sink-unit,
microwave, hob, kettle, toaster), dining area, and shower room.
Ample continental breakfast supplies are provided for the length of
your stay.
Find Us:
There is an excellent bus service to the city centre and many of our
guests prefer to leave the car in our grounds and have a relaxing day
sightseeing.
The cottage is also a perfect base for touring the central area of
Scotland.
The Borders, Perthshire, St Andrews, Stirling, and the Trossachs are
all easily reached for day visits and we would be delighted to help any
guests with arrangements regarding routes, etc.
Edinburgh Airport to Newmills Cottage:
Take A8 signposted Edinburgh. At Gogar Roundabout keep in left hand
lanes for A720 City Bypass. You will only be on A720 for a very short
time and are taking the first exit (signposted A71, M8 Glasgow,
Edinburgh City Centre, A71 Kilmarnock). Take next exit up to Calder
Roundabout. At roundabout turn right on to A71 and take left turn
signposted Currie, Balerno, & Heriot Watt University. Go through
first and second roundabouts up to T junction. Turn right on to Lanark
Road West (A70). In approximately one mile, number 472 Newmills
Cottage is on the right hand side, through stone pillared entrance
next to field.
From North, South, East, and West:
Follow signs to bring you to A71 Calder Junction just off City
Bypass A720. At Calder Junction Roundabout on A71, travel west
following signs for Heriot Watt University. Take first left at traffic
lights. Go through two roundabouts up to A70. Turn right on to Lanark
Road West. After Balerno sign, go past Newmills Road and prepare to
turn right. The cottage is reached through stone pillared entrance and
set back from the road with a paddock in front.
