Craigard House is a recently converted 1882 Victorian
house in Campbeltown, which is near the famous Mull of Kintyre.
We are situated on an elevated position on the north
side of Campbeltown Loch, about one mile from the town centre, but in a
quiet location.
The house has 8 bedrooms, all of which have been
tastefully decorated and all have fully tiled en-suite bathrooms with
showers.
Food is excellent and is served in our dining room
overlooking the Loch. There is also a small lounge to relax in with
satellite TV if required.
There are four local golf courses, including
Machrihanish, which has the recent distinction of being voted as having
the finest first hole in the world. There are a considerable number of
golf courses available on adjacent islands, such as Islay, Gigha and
Arran, all of which are reached by local ferry. The famous courses of
Northern Ireland are also just a ferry trip away. An ideal centre for
your golfing holiday, Whisky trail or island hopping trip.
Rooms:
All our 8 rooms are named after local villages, islands
and the local high point Bheinn Ghuilean.
There are superb views over Campbeltown Loch from the
high vantage point the house has to offer.
Features of all of our rooms:
- Hairdryers

- Controllable central heating
- Tea/coffee making facilities
- Fully tiled ensuite bathroom facilities
- Colour TV with remote control and Sky channels
- Tastefully decorated to a high standard with modern
comfortable and attractive finishes
Carradale:
Named after a picturesque local fishing village approx
18 miles away, this is a large twin room. The colour scheme is beige
and green, and has side views over the Loch.
In the days when the house was a maternity hospital
Carradale was a nursery.
Saddell:
Named after a small local village, which boasts a
Castle on the beach dating from 1506, this is a cosy double room,
ambitiously decorated in burgundy with a light green carpet. Moderate
sized double room with a side sea-view over Campbeltown Loch.
Ailsa Craig:
Named after the conspicuous, onion shaped island of
that name, this is a large family room - or suite of rooms, as it
consists of 2 rooms with a connecting arch.
There is a double bed in one sector and a single and 2
bunk beds in the other sector. It is decorated in dark blue &
beige, with a black & white tiled ensuite bathroom. It has front
and side views over the loch. It is situated beneath the tower.
Bheinn Ghuileann:
(Ben Gullion) This is the main front bay room. It is
very large and has a magnificent 4 poster Mahogany bed. This room has
the most ornate ceiling in the house and is decorated in beige and
light green. The bathroom is tiled in matching green and has a shower
as well as a bath. It has a magnificent bay window, with a front view
over the Loch towards Bheinn Ghuilean itself (the local high point).
Sanda:
This room is named after Sanda Island, which lies just
South of The Mull of Kintyre. It is a large family room, with a double
and single beds, with provision for a second single bed, if required.
It has been decorated in Mulberry and green and its en-suite bathroom
is the largest of all, is tiled throughout and has a shower as well as
a bath. It has front views over the Loch.
Peninver:
Named after a small, local village, this is a small
double room and has a view towards the back of the house. It is
decorated in yellow, greens and blue, and has a fully tiled en suite
with a corner bath.
Davaar:
Named after the island in the entrance to the Loch,
this room is a family room, with double and single beds (and space for
a further single bed, if required). It has been decorated in peach and
green, and has low, dark stained sash windows. It has matching fully
tiled en-suite bathroom. It overlooks the Loch.
Dunaverty:
This room is named after the famous rock at the
Southern tip of the Mull, where an infamous massacre took place many
centuries ago. It is a large twin room, decorated in salmon pink &
terracotta. The large en-suite bathroom has facilities for the
disabled.
Facilities:
Restaurant:
With views overlooking Campbeltown Loch, our small
dining room offers à la carte candle lit dinners. For larger parties,
it can accommodate 40 dinner guests. Extensive wine list.
