La Cresta de Oro is a luxury bed and breakfast in Panama City, Panama
offering high end services to discriminating guests in a relaxed
atmosphere.
We have two proprietors one of which is our in house Chef, who
graduated with honors from California Culinary Academy. Our guests may
choose from our continental buffet or a made-to-order breakfast from our
menu. We are happy to accommodate any special dietary needs. And don't
forget the daily wine tasting and appetizers!
We are dedicated to making our guests stay delightful!
We would be happy to have you join us for a day, a week, or longer!!
Our Location:
We are located in the heart of Panama City, Republic of Panama, in
the historic neighborhood of La Cresta, nestled on a quiet hill behind
the beautiful church “Iglesa del Carmen”. There is easy access to
Via Espana one of the cities main arteries and we are just a few blocks
from Avenida Balboa, the main avenue that runs along the Bay of Panama
on the Pacific. From our location, you can walk (or taxi) to shops,
restaurants, businesses and casino’s.
The House:
Our lovely Spanish-Colonial home is on three levels. The main entry
level was designed to take full advantage of the large covered patio
with view of the pool and yard (which is on the lower level). The large
yard has avocado, coconut and other tropical fruit trees and is the
domain of our two canine children. The living room and dining room have
large windows and doors that lead directly to the patio and outdoor bar
which is the center of activity for our evening wine tasting. The main
level also features the office, kitchen and staff quarters. By climbing
our beautiful Spanish tile staircase to the upper level, you will find
our guest rooms which boast 20 foot ceilings.

charge:

and more!
Air and Land:
The local International Airport is Tocumen (PTY). American, Delta,
Continental and Copa fly to/from the US and Air Madrid has direct
flights to/from Madrid Spain. The regional Airport is Albrook.
Aeroperlas, Panama International Air and Air Panama fly to other cities
in Panama and Costa Rica. The main bus terminal is next to the Albrook
Mall where you can catch a bus to almost anywhere in the county and to
the boarder of Costa Rica.
Medical & Insurance:
We strongly recommend that you have travelers insurance or check with
your current insurance plan to make sure they will cover you in a
foreign country. Panama has very good medical facilities which are much
less expensive than the US but it is always a good idea to have your
bases covered in the event of an accident Travel Guard and a variety of
others offer travelers insurance for a fare price.
Panama Info:
Panama is a beautiful, warm wonderland with interesting culture and
breathtaking vistas, however, Panama has its issues also. Some examples:
some beaches are nice and clean most are not; you have to drive through
some bad areas to get to some good ones - both in the city and in the
interior; city sidewalks can be crooked, broken, or used as parking
lots; Panama still uses drag nets for fishing... and so on.
Now, we wouldn't have choose to live here if the bad out weighed the
good. But that's for us - others may not have the same scale of good and
bad. Panama is a place worth exploring, but you should do it with your
eyes open and have all the information so you can make the best
decision.
