"What a location!"
"A superb view!"
These are 2 re-occurring themes we constantly hear from
our guests.
We are quite sure you'll be saying the exact same things
when you stay with us at Maryglen Homestay!
Our homestay (named after me Allison Mary and Glen) is
situated in the midst of native bush on a hillside overlooking the
Tasman Sea. Many of our overseas guests have called it "the million
dollar view" (we are open to offers???)
Our home is situated amongst native bush and ferns on a
hillside overlooking the Tasman sea. We are situated about 2.5 km south
of the town center, just off the main road.
We have two double rooms downstairs each with its own
facilities. Both open on to a large deck where the views of the sunsets
can be magnificent. Upstairs a twin room, overlooks the bush and has
host share facilities.
For our guests we offer dinner, laundry facilities,
transport to scenic spots (all at moderate charges).
Greymouth Is The Gateway...
On the central West Coast in the South Island of New
Zealand lies a place where the mountains stand tall, the rivers run deep
and the ocean goes as far as the eye can see. A haven of sorts, full of
history and tradition bordered by New Zealand's famous rain forests.
Where you can walk the beaches, hike and bike the
heritage gold field trails. Where you can trout fish the rivers, boat on
the lakes and where there's flair for fun and adventure.
There are a hundred and one other things to see and do.
One of them is to share in the lifestyle of the friendly and colourful
characters that live in this unique part of New Zealand because the way
we look at it, life is much too short, which makes a visit to Central
West Coast very precious indeed.
We have returned to the Coast after 4 years attached to
a city but have decided that the Coast beauty, lifestyle and weather is
for us.
Rooms:
Our 2 downstairs guest rooms have ensuites that open on
to a large balcony where you can sit and enjoy the view, the sounds of
the birds and later in the evening watch the sun disappear into the sea.
We have now installed a spa pool where you can soak and
relax after your days sightseeing and also enjoy the seaward views.
We have a twin room upstairs that overlooks the bush -
host share facilities.
Our Hospitality:
We enjoy showing warm hospitality to our guests, serving
them on arrival homemade ginger beer and baking. (Tea, coffee etc also
available) as we welcome them to this beautiful part of New Zealand.
We have a Lab dog -Lady- who enjoys being fussed over by
our guests and recently a kitten has been added to our family.
We have videos and books with local information that are
available and we enjoy sharing local knowledge and helping you plan your
activities around our area.
If you have no transport we are licensed Passenger
service operators so we can take you to scenic spots for a moderate
charge.
In the evening if guests would like a game of cards, we
are willing starters. We also have Pascat/Sky TV available.
The rooms have tea and coffee facilities so you can
enjoy early morning refreshments in your room. Dinner, laundry and
Internet facilities are available at a small reasonable charge.
Small Tour Groups:
We also run small tour groups for people over 50 - (you
know the young ones). A minimum of 4. We include a pick up from
Christchurch. Full accommodation and sightseeing and adventures around
our beautiful Coast - I took one group to the Stock car racing - a first
