We've all dreamt of living in a log home, being nestled
on a sofa watching the flames flicker on an open fire. Huntaway Lodge is
a large log home built using traditional methods set in an idyllic rural
setting of 12.5 acres.
We along with our two young children enjoy entertaining
guests on our farmlet. We have cattle and sheep, and a menagerie of
other animals, Kimba (Golden Labrador) and Raro (Cat). Your children and
pets are welcome.
From sunrise to sunset the elevation of Huntaway Lodge
allows you to enjoy exquisite views over rolling farmland - from Porirua
Harbour through to Mana Island and the South Island.
We are well sign posted 1.7 km up Flightys Road on the
right hand side off SH58, we are centrally located for all activities.
We offer rural homestay accommodation, in our
traditional log home built from Douglas fir logs.
Huntaway Lodge, 25 km north of Wellington, New Zealand's
Capital City is nestled amongst radiata pine, nearly 3 years old, to the
south. To the north from the decks off the kitchen, dining and bedrooms
you can look up the valley. To the west, fantastic views over
Pauatahanui Inlet, Mana Island, with the not to be missed nightly
sunsets over the Kaikoura Ranges of the South Island.
Paul and Dianne Boyack, your hosts, along with Joshua (6 years), Jessica
(17 months), enjoy entertaining and hosting visitors from New Zealand
and around the World. You are able to enjoy a full cooked breakfast
(included in the price), and a full three course meal (optional extra)
from produce grown locally. After dinner, you can relax in front of a
large open fire place dressed in quarried stone, enjoy drinks, watch
movies, SKY Satellite TV or doze off with a hot cocoa. Then retire to a
neutrally decorated bedroom with queen size bed and crisp fresh linen.
... And wake to the smell of baking bread.
There is always something to do here at Huntaway and the
beauty of staying with us is that everything is at our 'back door'.
- Horse Riding - Lessons, Day Treks, Short Rides in an
all weather arena or through a local native and farm reserve. We
organize this for you through a local professional.
- Wander through the every growing garden, through the
paddocks and feel the fresh air blow through your hair.
- Marae Visit. Why not visit a beautiful local Marae
and experience New Zealand first hand on a personal tour. You can
purchase merchandise and reasonable prices.
- Feed the animals.
- Pinus Radiata tour. Through our trees and up the
valley to more a larger and more mature plantation. A little 4 Wheel
Driving is necessary and is a lot of fun.
