Fully self-contained luxury accommodation - with heated indoor pool,
spa, gym & sundeck - in central Paihia with outstanding views over
Bay of Islands. Bed & breakfast on request.
Chalet Romantica was designed to Swiss owners Inge & Edi Amsler's
specifications with emphasis on sea views, comfort, space and luxury.
This 8000 square ft home has been built on 2 acres on top of a spur
on the hillside in the heart of Paihia. It offers you a beautifully
appointed self-contained one bedroom apartment, a luxury mini suite and
a cosy queen size room with tea and coffee making facilities. There is
internal access to all rooms, pool, spa and gym, without interference to
other guests.
While you are relaxing on the balcony you can watch the yachts
sailing by, marlin fishing launches leaving the bay and returning
with their flags up, announcing the catch made. You will see the
passenger ferries and the fast tourist catamarans crossing over to the
isolated Russel Peninsula, where access by car is only possible by car
ferry from Opua or over a narrow winding, unsealed road.
From Chalet Romantica it is only a stroll down to the beach, shops
and the wharf. On the way there are several restaurants and cafes. One
of them is the famous Swiss Café & Grill right on the waterfront.
Chalet Romantica also operates a yacht charter business with
skippered or bareboat charters. Day trips or full catered overnight
trips are available on an amazing Catalina 42'.MKII keel yacht.
Rooms:
The Romantica Suite:
Right under the apex, is a lovely 50 m2 open-plan
mini-suite with super king or Californian king bed. A comfortable
lounge suite on a Berber rug and TV, video form a cosy sitting area.
The kitchenette is fully equipped with hotplate and microwave to allow
for small intimate meals.
There is an ensuite with shower and toilet and ample wardrobe
space. Windows and balcony offer a variety of spectacular views all
around. To get to this suite you need to climb a few steps. Once you
are up there, you’ll agree it’s all worth it! Don’t worry, you
will get help with your luggage!
The Bellevue Suite:
This is a beautifully designed apartment with separate bedroom and
lounge. The master bed can either be made up as a super king or two
single beds. There is plenty of wardrobe space and a ensuite with
shower and toilet.
Part of the lounge is a small kitchen with hotplates, microwave and
all necessary utensils. Adjacent to the dining area is the lounge with
a comfortable three seater sofa from where you can watch rugby on TV
or bring your own videos. From the balcony the Bay of Islands lies
right in front of you.
The Bellavista Room:
This room offers magnificent views over the Bay. It also has a
private balcony with chairs and table. Most guests have their
breakfast out there.
The room features a quality queen-size bed, from where you can
watch the late movies on TV. Telephone and radio alarm clock are
standard equipment. A hidden fridge and tea & coffee making
facilities are also provided. This lovely little room has a private
bathroom with toilet, massage shower and bathrobes for the dash across
the hallway.
