The chalet is of traditional Malay design but has the
comforts for the western lifestyle. It is located on one of Malaysia's
most beautiful beaches, Terengganu being famous for them.
The tourist fishing village of Marang is 20 km away, it
is here you can catch boats for a river cruise or to go to Kapas Island,
ideal for snorkeling and scuba-diving.
The towns of Kuala Terengganu and Dungun are about 40 km
away north and south respectively, and these offer shopping
opportunities to stock up the freezer / fridge with most foods.
The village of Gong Balai is yet non-commercialized by
tourism, so the visitor will see no tourists but only the local people
going about their daily chores.
Indeed it is so quiet that it is the northern most limit
where the famous turtles of Rantu Abang lay their eggs. A perfect place
for those who want a very different, tranquil spot, a place to read and
listen to the sound of the waves.
For those who do want to explore however, the
waterfalls, caves and jungle of Taman Negara Nature reserve are 1 hours
drive away.
