The Frescoes of 16th Century:
On the 14th of February 2005 we started restoring a new
frescoed-ceiling room.
Our very talented artists indicated that the room was built in the
1500's. They started restoring the central fresco "L'Aurora"
done in the 1800's representing a young lady on a dark cloud going
towards a very clear sky accompanied by 4 cherubs carrying beautifully
decorated flowers. The theme was popular in the 1600's and in Rome there
is a famous painting "L'Aurora" by the painter Guido Reni.
February 24th 2005: restoration is finished.
The 1500's frescoes were a total discovery for us. We never knew
underneath the paint we would have found them! We are now slowly
restoring the upper decorations.
During the restoration works, they scratched the upper walls and
found original frescoes made in the early 1500's, we never knew about
this... we were very excited about this discovery!
The theme is very simple and popular, it represents farmers with
hats, pants up to the knee and boots. The most amazing thing is a marble
effect fresco decoration made on each original arc. It will take a while
but certainly it is worthwhile.
See Image 6 for before and after pictures of the ceiling frescoe.
Dining:
Enjoy a delicious breakfast in the sitting room while admiring the
ancient frescoed ceiling or in the garden. Upon request, candlelit
dinners can be served at night.
During the winter months enjoy breakfast in the frescoed ceiling
room. In the summertime, breakfast is served in the garden.
We offer fresh bread, baked daily, delicious homemade yogurt and a
variety of jams. Enjoy cereals, orange juice, tea, coffee, and
chocolate.
Upon request, we offer a five course homemade dinner with our fresh
baked bread. Dinner includes fresh pasta, which we make ourselves,
organic vegetable, and fruit.

Area Attractions:
Montichiari is a lovely middle age town of 20,000 people in the
province of Brescia and it offers the 1700 Cathedral of Santa Maria
Assunta, the 1100 Abbey of San Pancrazio, the very elegant 1800 Theatre,
all in wood, the history museum, the archaeological museum and the 1800
Castle Bonoris with its own Park.
Verona:
See Verona and its arena lyric concerts, Milan and its La Scala
Theatre and the Duomo, the botanical garden and the middle age village
of Borghetto.
Venice:
Visit Venice and its beauties, Vicenza and the Palladian Villas,
Cremona and the Stradivari Museum.
Other area attractions include:
Brescia and its museums, churches and castle; the Lake Garda,
Mantova and its Renaissance Gonzaga Palaces, and lots of hidden
beauties we will indicate to you.
Villa San Pietro is located just ten minutes from the largest natural
lake in Italy, Lake of Garda.
Among the charming villages you may visit, Salo' and its
unforgettable Gulf, Desenzano del Garda and its Roman Villa, you will
also enjoy Manerba and its ancient Rock.
There are boat rides available across Lake of Garda where guests can
spend the day exploring the villages, shopping the flea market, or
treating themselves to a day of pampering at the spa.
Full of contrasts, Malcesine is particularly fascinating. There's
Mediterranean flora found in the gardens filled with oleanders and in
the immense olive groves from which a delicate olive oil is obtained.
Further up, the landscape becomes alpine. To pass in a few minutes from
olive trees to the highest peaks of Mount Baldo enjoying the fantastic
panoramic view of the lake, is a unique and unrepeatable experience that
can easily be attained with the cable car that runs from Malcesine to
Tratto Spino. This facility is also used by those who would like to hike
or mountain bike back down the valley, as well as for those who want to
go up in the winter, to enjoy winter sports: there are excellent slopes
for skiing, with the blue of the lake always in sight.
The Castle of Malcesine houses an interesting museum about the
origins, history, and flora and fauna of Lake Garda. From the top of the
castle's tower one may enjoy a magnificent view of the town.
While visiting Sirmione everyone will want to tour the remains of a
magnificent Roman villa "Le Grotte di Catullo." Stop by and
look through the Castle, shop the small & elegant stores, or simply
take a leisurely stroll along the lake. Sirmione is perched on the south
end of Lago di Garda. From the castle at the town entrance, take a
scenic walk up the east side of the peninsula to the Grotto di Catullo.
On a warm day, eat in the garden of the Grifone Ristorante right across
the moat from the castle. Just east of Sirmione is a great restaurant,
Vecchia Lugana, on the road to Peschiera del Garda.
A number of factors contributed to create the present fame which
Sirmione enjoys: the pleasantness of the place, the marvelous landscape,
the mildness of the climate, the poetry of Catullus and of Carducci, the
Scaligeri castle, an absolute jewel of medieval architecture, and the
spring known as "La Boiola" which supplies water for very busy
and modernly equipped thermal baths. The tiny peninsula which runs in a
south to north direction for almost 1.8 miles (3 km) on the blue Benaco,
brings together a number of aspects, interesting from the tourist point
of view, in an area which covers no more than some 247 acres.
The exquisite peninsula of Sirmione lends a serene setting in which
natural and manmade beauty both play a part. The town center manages to
combine a typically medieval atmosphere and layout with a profusion of
shops and excusive boutiques.
Also located near Sirmione in Valeggio sul Mincio is the largest
botanical garden in Europe. There, visitors will marvel at the
breathtaking beauty of the gardens.
