the Congress Center and 500 meters from the Duomo Cathedral and the main
museums.

Each room has its own boiler with complimentary tea,
coffee and chocolate. Restaurant and museum reservations are available

Siena, Pisa, San Gimignano or guided visits by coach or on foot to
Florence.
Santa Maria Novella Church:
Santa Maria Novella church was designed by Leon Battista
Alberti.
Born in Genoa, Italy in 1404, Leon Battista Alberti
was a member of an important Florentine family that had been exiled from
Florence since 1387. When he and his family returned to the city in 1429,
Alberti, who had heavily studied architecture and art, began to get
access to the city's great architecture and art.
Alberti was an intelligent man who was well versed in
both Latin and Greek. Amazingly, Alberti never had a formal
architectural education. His architectural knowledge was the by-product
of his own research.
Alberti's wrote two main books on architecte. One of
them, De Re Aedificatoria, remained the book to follow regarding
architecture from the 16th century until the 18th century.
In 1450, Alberti began his first building, Tempio
Malatestiano in Rimini. This unfinished building was his first attempt
at architecture based on his on own principles and guides. At this point
in time, Alberti's architectural experience was purely theoretic with no
practical experience.
The front of Santa Maria Novella church, which was built
from 1458 - 1471, is considered his greatest achievement.
Alberti died in Rome in 1472.
