La Pila is ancient country court dating back to 1733 and was
originally built around a rice mill.
The Sartori family awaits to welcome you for an unforgettable stay at
La Pila.
Situated on the banks of the river Adige, the farmhouse is completely
immersed in the wonderful countryside tranquility of Valli Grandi
Veronesi. Located in the center of the north Italian region, it is here
that you will find the most beautiful historic cities of art.
Built in 1733, the farmhouse has been totally restructured to include
7 apartments for those families who appreciate the relaxing atmosphere
of a holiday farm, including sport, art and culture, good food and
healthy living.
Children 3 years of age and under stay free when occupying the same
room with an adult family member. Children up to 10 years old enjoy a
50% discount. Reduction of 10 Euro per night for children over 10 years
or adults sleeping in the third bed of a room.
We offer a 10% discount for stays of minimum 3 nights, and a 15%
discount for stays of minimum 8 nights.
Rooms:
Albicocca (Apricot):
2 or 3 people. Very close to the entrance of the portico and of the
main lounges, this wide room is situated at the ground level and has
direct access from the outside court. Very bright, it has a window on
court side, under the new grapes pergola and facing the roses bed, and
one window on morning side. It is furnished with two beds (separate or
to be combined in a king size bed) and with a sofa to be transformed
in an additional single bed. The bathroom (with a window) is provided
with shower and hair dryer.
Ciliegia (Cherry):
2 or 3 people. At the ground level, with direct access from
outside, in a central position, facing rose bed and swimming pool, it
is a wide room with two separate beds and a sofa to be transformed
into a third bed. One window turns to south, on the court's side, in
front of the pool, whilst the second one turns to morning side. The
wide spaces allow the accommodation of handicapped people. Also the
bathroom, with a window, has been studied for helping people moving
with difficulties. The wide shower is at the floor level, without any
step. It is equipped with hair dryer.
Fragola (Strawberry):
2 or 3 people. With direct access from outside, under the new
grapes pergola, facing the roses bed, this room situated at the ground
level is furnished with two beds (separate or to be combined in a king
size bed) and with a sofa to be transformed in an additional single
bed. Two are the windows, one turning to noon, facing the court, and
one turning to morning. The wide spaces allow the accommodation of
handicapped people. The bathroom, with a window, is provided with
bathtub and hair dryer.
Mela (Apple):
2 or 3 people. Situated at the first floor, this room has a big
window arch shaped, turning to noon, just in front of the swimming
pool area and kiwi's orchard. It is furnished with two beds (separate
or to be combined in a king size bed) and with a sofa to be
transformed in an additional single bed. The private bathroom is
provided with shower and hair dryer.
Pera (Pear):
2 or 3 people. Situated on second floor, it is characterized from
the high wooden ceiling. The window, turning to noon, gapes on kiwi's
orchard with the swimming pool, on the park with the old magnolia
trees to sunset and on the farm's lands rather beyond the stables. It
is furnished with two beds (separate or to be combined in a king size
bed) and with a sofa to be transformed in an additional single bed.
The wide bathroom (with a skylight on the ceiling) is provided with
shower and hair dryer.
For large families, this room can be joined to the mini apartment
Pesca and so constitute a unique property with the living room and
three bedrooms for 6 to 8 people.
Apartments:
Self serve breakfast is not included in the apartment rate, but it
may be arranged the previous evening for a small fee.
Nespola (Medlar):
4 to 6 people. Situated at the first floor, this mini apartment is
provided with a wide living room with a table for 6 people, armchair,
sofa to be transformed into a double bed, old sideboard, kitchen
corner (washbasin, two electric hot plates, microwave oven and
refrigerator) and colour TV. The big window arch shaped, turning to
south, looks on kiwi's orchard and swimming pool's area. The other
window, turning to morning, gives more light to the room and gaze, far
away, on Euganei hills and on Lessini mountains.
One room, turning to noon and with the big arch shaped window, is
furnished with a big king size bed. In the days with clear sky you can
see at the horizon the Appennini Emiliani mountains. The big bathroom,
with window, is provided of bathtub. On the morning side is turning
the second room, with two windows, with a single bed and a second one
underneath to be extracted. It is directly linked with a small private
bathroom, provided with shower. Both bathrooms are equipped with hair
dryers.
Pesca (Peach):
4 to 6 people. Situated on second floor, this mini apartment is
characterized from the high wooden ceiling. It is provided with a wide
living room with a table for 6 people, armchair, sofa to be
transformed into a double bed, old sideboard, kitchen corner
(washbasin, two electric hotplates, microwave oven and refrigerator)
and colour TV. One window, turning to south, dominates the kiwi's
orchard and swimming pool's area. A second window, turning to morning,
gives more light to the room and gaze, far away, on Euganei hills and
on Lessini mountains.
One room, turning to noon, is furnished with a big king size bed.
It has two marvelous windows, face southeast, from whose you dominate
the entire Estate. In the days with clear sky you can see at the
horizon the Appennini Emiliani mountains.
The big bathroom, with a skylight on the ceiling, is provided with
shower. On the morning side is turning the second room, with two
windows, with a single bed and a second one underneath to be
extracted. It is directly linked with a small private bathroom,
provided with shower. Both bathrooms are equipped with hair dryers.
For large families, this mini apartment may be joined with the Pera
Room.
Activities:
Let us talk about the swimming pool. It is 7.5 meters wide and 15
meters long and it is one meter and 30 centimeters deep. It is slightly
heated and has got a Jacuzzi corner.
We are also have a small gymnasium, with wall bars, weights, bench
for keep fit exercises. A nice run around the farm's perimeter will give
you energy for the day.
At your disposal are some bicycles, including bicycles for kids. Many
small country routes are paved, therefore bike riding is easy and
relaxing (all on flat ground!).
Under the portico there is table tennis. In the lounges there is a
playing cards table and the TV with satellite antenna. A billiards table
is also available.
Between the kiwi trees there is a bowls ground!
Throughout the whole year we organize theme activities, from
terracotta's moulds to vegetables sculptures, from flowers decorations
to roses cultivation, from yoga in the water to shamanic studies.
In the village of Spinimbecco there is are tennis courts. Other
courts are available in Villa Bartolomea and in Legnago.
Horse riding along the embankments of the river Adige makes a great
outing with its kilometers and kilometers of grass routes. If you are
interested we may organize some horse rides with the horses of our
neighbour's.
In the surroundings there are some interesting handicraft activities.
We suggest the laboratory Terra e Colore (Earth and Colour) of Mrs
Marisa Fraccarollo, who produces with terracotta some beautiful object
and Accademia delle idee (Ideas Academy) of Mrs Wilma Strabello Bellini
who holds courses, meetings and stages dedicated to feminine manual
hobbies, from origami to stencil, from decoupage to patchwork, from
sculptures with vegetables to compositions with withered flowers. Both
these activities are in Villa Bartolomea.
Farm Products:
Our most famous product is Le mele della Pila (La Pila's Apples). The
oldest variety is Golden Delicious, yellow apples, sweet and juicy, to
be harvested in the second half of September and lasting, if well kept,
until the beginning of the spring. More recent varieties are: Ozark
Gold, yellow apples with an orange shade, very sweet, early ripening mid
August; Hy Early, red apples, crunchy and juicy, with the characteristic
sour taste, ripening at the beginning of September; beautiful Red Chief,
red apples, with the typical lengthened shape, super juicy and super
crunchy, every bite a drop of dew! You may find them well ripened in the
first half of September.
Also Le pere della Pila (La Pila's Pears) are similarly good. We have
a large production of Abate, the classic pears with the lengthened
shape, of a beautiful golden colour, ripening early in September. Mid
August we harvest the Conference, slightly smaller than Abate, but with
the same long shape and more easy to be kept. Even longer lasting the
Kaiser, rounded and with a rusty colour, very good also when cooked.
Other fruits, for the moment, include plums and kiwis.
During the season we have fresh products from the vegetable garden:
there is a little of everything, from salads to tomatoes, from
courgettes to string beans, from peppers to eggplants, from onions to
various aromatic herbs.
We built new henhouses to let the hens and chickens have a lot more
room. The eggs for breakfast are never missing.
The winter handy crafts are many: embroideries, soaps, house tools.
We will show them to you and no problems to tell you how we make them.
