Faronhof Bed and Breakfast is located near to the center of Venice. We are based in the Venice area of Riviera Del Brenta, where all the famous Palladian Villas are situated.

At our bed and breakfast, guests are welcomed into a pleasant and familiar environment, enjoying all modern comforts while at the same time offering the peace and tranquility of a house with a private garden. From our bed and breakfast you can easily reach Venice, Padua, Treviso and the Dolomites Mountains. We speak fluent English and good French.

We are an Anglo-Italian family of travellers who have spent our holidays in many bed and breakfast's around Europe, visiting many B&B accommodation and farmhouses. We thought we would like to share with other people the good experiences we had by travelling on the cheap and getting the opportunity of meeting many new friends and getting in contact with lots of other cultures. We decided to put part of our home at the disposal of other travellers like us on a bed and breakfast basis.

Our bed and breakfast is located only 15 minutes by bus from Venice Piazzale Roma (downtown area) and we are based in the area of Riviera Del Brenta, where all the famous Palladian Villas are.

Services: English & French speaking, a peaceful garden, Internet access, free bikes, barbeque available in the garden, information and tourist advice for the area, local swimming pool at 1 km. Advice on planning historical, natural, gastronomic and folkloristic itineraries. Bus tickets are available for sale at the house. We can also organise excursions to the Riviera del Brenta and entries in the Villas, for prices please enquiry when booking or on arrival.

We will require a guarantee deposit for the first night only, which can be made via a international postal order, bank transfer, credit card or via PayPal online payment processor. We would also like to know if possible your foreseen arrival time.

About The Riviera del Brenta:

A strip of land along the river Brenta, which flows from Padua to Venice: gardens and gorgeous artistic villas are the landscape of The Brenta Riviera. It is made up of districts and green spots along the ancient course of a river linking Padua to Venice. A charming trip, which enchanted poets and travellers. Memories of this land were written by Lord Byron and Goethe, and by the Italian poet Gabriele D'Annunzio, the scientist Galileo Galilei, the playwriter Carlo Goldoni. In his poem "The Divine Comedy", the great poet Dante Alighieri mentiones the city of Oriago.

The history of the Brenta Riviera began in the 15th-16th century, when rich Venetian families bought large estates and built villas where they spent the summertime and where they managed the land cultivation: they asked the best architects to design their villas and foresterie (guest houses) so gorgeous as not to miss their Grand Canal in Venice. So the Riviera del Brenta can be described as the "Grand Canal" sinked in the green of the villas parks and the countryside. The whole beauty of this land can be appreciated at its most by travelling by boat: "vaporettos" and "gondolas" in Venice Gran Canal, and the "Burchiello" and the "Battelli del Brenta" to travel down the river Brenta. The best known villas of the Riviera, departing from Malcontenta, are: Villa Foscari (by the architect Andrea Palladio); Villa Valmarana; Villa Widmann in Mira; Villa Angeli in Dolo; Villa Soranzo in Fiesso; Villa Pisani in Stra (the biggest and richest one), with frescoes by Tiepolo and Guarana, gardens and a famous labyrinth.

The Brenta Riviera was the ideal extension of Venice onto the mainland, almost a continuation of the lagoon city: between the 16th and 18th century it experienced a golden age which turned it into a privileged holiday resort for rich Venetian nobles. They built dozens of villas along the riverbanks, designed and decorated by masters of Italian art, visited by artists, popes, kings and men of culture, envied for their beauty, inhabited as country seats where they celebrated ritual floating processions, sumptuous dinners and festivities lasting until dawn.

The building of villas along the Riviera del Brenta began in the 15th century, when Venice extended its dominion over the mainland. Growing commercial difficulties and the the discovery of America led Venetians to invest their capital in the purchase of farmlands. The villas were built close to the riverbanks so that the gentlemen could keep their investments under personal control while taking the opportunity of a family holiday. In the 16th century villa Foscari at Malcontenta and villa Soranzo at Fiesso were built with outside frescoes by Paolo Veronese's brother. Fashion brought then to enrich gardens with busts and baroque decorations such as in Villa Morosini in Mirano and Villa Sagredo in Vigonovo. In the 18th century Villa Widmann in Mira and Villa Pisani in Stra were built, maybe the most spectacular ones. Inside the villas there are whole cycle of paintings, mainly mythological: by Zelotti in Villa Malcontenta, by B. de Pitati in Villa Querini in Mira; by Angeli in Villa Widmann, by Tiepolo in Villa Pisani in Stra. Also the churches are interesting to visit, with their precious decorations and paintings.

Directions:

Faronhof Bed and Breakfast lodging is situated in Oriago di Mira near to Venice, about 15 minutes from Venice by bus. It is located 500m from the main Romea SS highway from Venice to Ravenna.

By Car:

1. From the motorway A4 (Milano-Trieste): straight after the toll booth follow the signs for Ravenna (ss.309 Romea) – Chioggia.
2. After about 2 km, you will reach a big roundabout. Do not follow the sign for Oriago. Instead continue following the direction for Ravenna.
3. After 2km you will reach a set of traffic (stop) lights, with a sign for Oriago. The turning on the right is Via Seriola Veneta (our road), follow this for 200m where you will arrive at a junction go straight on (don't follow the road to the right).
4. After 200m you will reach a little bridge, Faronhof B&B is the house on the right. There is a sign with "I Love B&B" on the front door.

By Bus:

1. There is a direct bus from Piazzale Roma-downtown Venice, you can catch it from bus lane D1 in Piazzale Roma, it is a blue bus "Direction Sottomarina", it runs at 25" and 55" of each hour.
2. Ask to get off : "sulla omea, incrocio tra malcontenta e oriago, dopo nalon, due fermate prima di unieuro" (you must ask to stop because this is a stop on request bus). If the bus driver tells you to get on a different bus to Oriago, do not take any notice because there are 2 buses to oriago.
3. At your stop you will get off just after some traffic lights. When you get off follow the side street adjacent to the bus stop and follow it for about 200m. It is a small narrow road, called Via Seriola Veneta, with a little stream on the side. follow this for 200m where you will arrive at a junction go straight on (don't follow the road on the right).
4. After around 200m you will reach a little bridge, Faronhof B&B lodging is the house on the right. By prior arrangement we can pick you up by car from the bus stop for free. There is a sign with "I Love B&B" on the front door.

From Venice Marco Polo Airport:

• Catch the bus for Venice Piazzale Roma.

Nuestra casa es muy confortable y metemos a disposición de nuestros huéspedes dos habitaciones en Bed & Breakfast, en una tranquila zona de Oriago de Mira (Venecia), una pequeña ciudad llena de historia a orillas del río Brenta (a aproximadamente unos 15 km de Venecia), lejanos del ruido urbano, pero de todas maneras cercanos a las carreteras principales que llevan a Venecia.

Somos una familia Italo-inglesa, amante de viajes, que ha pasado muchas vacaciones de paseo por Europa, alojando en B&B y agriturismos. Nos hôtes sont acceuillis dans une agréable et familière ambience, et peuvent bénéficier de tout les conforts et tranquillité d’une maison avec le jardin privé. Depuis notre villa vous pouvez arriver facilement à Venise, Padova, Treviso et les Dolomites.

Nous parlons Français et Anglais avec fluidité. Notre villa est très confortable et nous avons à disposition de nos hôtes deux chambres en Bed&Breakfast, dans une tranquille zone de Oriago di Mira (Venise), un petit bourg plein d’histoire sur le bord de la rivière Brenta, (à peux près à 15km de Venise), éloignés du bruit urbain, mais de toutes façons proches des principales routes qui ammenent à Venise.

Nous sommes une famille Italo-Anglaise, amateurs de voyages, nous avons passé beaucoup de vacances en promenade à travers l’Europe, logeant dans les B&B et agritourismes. Wir sind eine anglo-italienische Familie von Reisenden, die ihren Urlaub schon an vielen Plätzen in Europa verbracht hat, wobei wir auch viele Bed and Breakfasts, Agritourismen und Ferienbauernhöfe besucht haben. Wir haben uns gedacht, wir sollten unsere guten Erfahrungen mit dieser billigen Art zu reisen mit anderen Menschen teilen und bei der Gelegenheit auch viele neue Freunde kennenlernen und in Kontakt mit anderen Kulturen kommen.

So haben wir uns also entschlossen, einen Teil unseres Hauses anderen Reisenden wie uns zur Verfügung zu stellen, auf der Basis von Bed and Breakfast. Unser Haus ist mit dem Bus nur 15 Minuten vom Piazzale Roma in Venedig entfernt und wir liegen im Mündungsgebiet des Flußes Brenta, dort wo auch all die berühmten Palladio-Villen liegen. Wir begrüßen alle unsere Gäste in einer angenehmen, familiären Umgebung, wo sie den Komfort und den Frieden eines Hauses mit eigenem Garten genießen können.Von unserem Haus aus können Sie leicht Venedig, Padua, Treviso und die Dolomiten erreichen. Wir sprechen fließend englisch und gut französisch.

Unser Haus ist sehr komfortabel und wir bieten Bed and Breakfast in einer ruhigen Gegend von Oriago, weit weg vom Lärm der Stadt, dennoch aber nahe an den Hauptstraßen und nur 500 m von der Bushaltestelle entfernt, von der aus Sie Venedig in nur 15 Minuten erreichen können. Der Bus fährt jede halbe Stunde, der letzte Bus aus Venedig fährt dort um 24.00 h ab.

Unser Haus liegt in Oriago di Mira (Venedig), einer Stadt voll von Geschichte, an der Mündung der Brenta, 15 km von Venedig entfernt.

Es liegt in einer ruhigen Grünzone, 300 m von der Staatsstraße Romea entfernt. Unser Haus ist der ideale Ausgangspunkt für Besuche in Venedig, Padua, Vicenza, Verona, Ferrara, den Regionalpark der Euganeischen Hügel, das Po-Delta und den Gardasee. Die lokale Küche und die lokale Erzeugnisse hier sind ausgezeichnet. Besuche in der Gegend sind zu Fuß möglich, mit dem Fahrrad oder hoch zu Roß. Während des Jahres gibt es viele Feste und folkloristische Ereignisse: Das Erlöserfest, den Karneval von Venedig, die Regatta.

In den Preisen ist ein volles kontinentales Frühstück enthalten (Tee oder Kaffee, Orangensaft, Getreideflocken, Toast mit Butter und Marmeladen), tägliche Zimmerreinigung, Bettwäsche.

Wir bieten Ihnen auch die Möglichkeit, Lunchpakete auf ihre Ausflüge mitzunehmen oder das Abendessen bei uns einzunehmen. Wegen der Preise hierfür fragen Sie bitte beim Buchen nach oder bei Ihrer Ankunft.

Englisch und französisch wird gesprochen, ein ruhiger Garten, Internetzugang, kostenlose Fahrräder, Grill im Garten, Information und Touristenberatung für die Region, öffentliches Schwimmbad 1 km entfernt. Beratung bei der Planung von Ausflügen, seien es historische, gastronomische oder folkloristische Touren oder auch bei Fahrten in die Natur. Buskarten können Sie bei uns im Haus kaufen. Wir können auch Fahrten an die Riviera del Brenta organiseren und Besichtigungen der Villas. Wegen der Preise fragen Sie bitte beim Buchen oder bei Ihrer Ankunft.

Über Die Riviera Del Brenta:

Ein Landstreifen entlang der Brenta zwischen Padua und Venedig: Gärten und prächtige, künstlerisch gestaltete Villen, das ist die Landschaft der Brenta Riviera. Sie besteht aus Bezirken und grünen Flecken entlang dem alten Flußlauf, der Padua und Venedig miteinander verbindet. Eine bezaubernde Fahrt, die schon Dichter und andere Reisende verzaubert hat. Erinnerungstexte über das Land wurden von Lord Byron und Goethe geschrieben, sowie von dem italienischen Dichten Gabriele D'Annunzio, dem Wissenschaftler Galileo Galilei, dem Dramatiker Carlo Goldoni. In seinem Gedicht "Die Göttliche Komödie" erwähnt der große Dichter Dante Alighieri die Stadt Oriago. Die Geschichte der Brenta Riviera begann im 15. und 16. Deshalb kann man die Riviera del Brenta als Canal Grande beschreiben, versunken im Grün der Parks um die Villen und in der Landschaft.

Die ganze Landschaft des Landes erschließt sich am besten durch eine Bootsfahrt, mit den "Vaporettos", den "Gondeln" des Canal Grande in Venedig, dem "Burchiello" und den "Battelli del Brenta", mit denen man den Fluß entlangfahren kann. Die Brenta Riviera war die ideale Ergänzung Venedigs auf das Festland hinaus, fast ein Fortsetzung der Lagunenstadt: zwischen dem 16. und dem 18. Jahrhundert erlebte sie ein Goldenes Zeitalter, verwandelte sich dann in einen Ferienbezirk für die reichen Venezianischen Adeligen. Sie bauten Dutzende von Villen entlang dem Flußufer, entworfen und innen gestaltet von den Meistern der italienischen Kunst, besucht von Künstlern, Päpsten, Königen und Kulturschaffenden, geschätzt wegen ihrer Schönheit, bewohnt als Landsitze, wo man festliche Flußfahrten organisierte, veschwinderische Gastmähler gab und Feste feierte, die bis in die Morgendämmerung dauerten.

Der Bau der Villen entlang der Riviera del Brenta begann im 15. Jahrhundert, als Venedig seinen Herrschaftsbereich auf das Festland ausdehnte. Wachsende wirtschaftliche Schwierigkeiten und die Entdeckung Amerikas brachten Venedig dazu, sein Kapital in den Erwerb von Bauernland zu stecken. Die Villen wurde nahe am Fluß gebaut, so daß die Herren Ihre Investitionen unter persönlicher Kontrolle behalten konnten, indem sie die Gelegenheit für Ferien mit der ganzen Familie nutzten. Im 16. Jahrhundert wurden die Villa Foscari in Malcontenta und die Villa Soranzo in Fiesso erbaut, mit Außenfresken von Paolo Veronese's Bruder. Die Mode der Zeit brachte es mit sich, die Gärten mit Statuen und barocken Kunstgegenständen zu versehen, so wie in der Villa Morosini in Mirano und der Villa Sagredo in Vigonovo. Im 18. Jahrhundert wurden die Villa Widmann in Mira und die Villa Pisani in Stra gebaut, vielleicht die beeindruckendsten. Der "Burchiello" (ein Boot, benannt nach dem Namen des Bootes, das Carlo Goldoni erwähnte) der täglich Padua mit Venedig verbindet, ist eine gute Gelegenheit, die Riviera von einem ganz besonders reizvollen Standpunkt aus zu erleben.
